I just looked at my DVD collection and I have that movie. Now I have double incentive to watch it.

I just rewatched the YouTube version. I got some glimpse of Nestor. I now have a new project. I am going to try to make screencaps of the movie and perhaps upload them tomorrow or the next day. All depends on my workload. But Michael and Nestor fans should be in for a treat, I hope.

He had an accent there that was just enough to make him sound a little different than usual- guess that's a sign of how he gets into characters that look and sound different from one another[unlike some other mega stars that always just play themselves]

The way he moved his mouth and his stare was different. Interesting actor. If I were still acting, I'd love to take lessons from him.

I never heard of that movie. What is it about?

It's an account of the aftermath of a brutal murder of a young gay Wyoming youngster named Matthew Shephard in the late 90's. There were two filmed made for TV versions of the story, I think this one had a lot more name actors in it[another one starred Saw Waterston and Stockard Channing, to my recollection]

Aw. His character isn't particularly sympathetic...

I think this was on HBO sometime ago. I didn't realize ME was in it. I remember I could hardly watch the movie at the time, because my memory of the horrific event was too fresh at the time they aired it. I didn't know Mr. Shepherd, but I am familiar with the horrible town attitude toward others who are different as well as those who are different. I have minor connections to both types in Laramie and Wyoming, so it was just a bit too real for me to watch it.

Another side of Michael's great acting: Can't believe I'm about to say this... but I don't think that qualified as 'great' acting, per se. Once he started talking about the boy's murder it just began to fall apart. That's the closest to tears I've ever seen Michael onscreen. He could hardly say his lines. Which I understand fully, but he's said that as an actor, you can never afford to judge a character, just merely try to understand them. Did he succeed in that here? Did he see the minister being that emotional in that moment?

You think it was intentional, then? If it was, that was a brilliant stroke. I would never have expected the character to be played that way. I still find it hard to believe what he was saying, though. I'm not faulting him, really! It's just that I've seen this guy pull off a serial killer describing his method of pulling off his victims' fingernails.
