Having viewed the trailers and read the prroduction notes and kat's blog, I have to watch this movie in its entirety before I'll be able to have an opinion about it. It's clearly not a standard movie, or even a standard indie movie. It sounds like something else, and I'm OK with that, if it works. It's a movie about coping with mental illness and how it affects family and friends. It definitely belongs in the classroom. Yeah, I know what it's about. I need to see it though to see how it works. I know in a few days. Looking forward to that.

Hi, I can`t wait for "Jumping off bridges". The problem is to order it in USA, there is no change to get it here, but I `m happy to have a DVD player, who has a NTSC signal/region1, in Europe we have region 2 I need to see the movie, not only because of Michael, who is so great in that you tube sequence, it´s because of the same choice of words, he said to his son, it gave me the heebie-jeebies, the same lines I had with my daughter this summer because of her crisis.... no words more yours Martina

Totally get that, Martina. I have gone to movies several times just to hear one line that grabbed me, and for reasons a lot less important. Best of luck getting the DVD and a player that will work in Germany

K, saw it once. Will watch it again, but I have to say first viewing is wow, that was amazing. I suppose this sort of resonates with you more if there are elements of it that you can identify with, which I can. It's totally believable. I'll wait til others comment, but boy, does it hit the target on several fronts. Some reveals I wasn't really expecting but it all made sense by the end. Very well done, katcandler.

I got mine a few days ago and it was a good movie. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet so this is all I'll say for now.

I got mine a few days ago and it was a good movie. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet so this is all I'll say for now. As our videos are trickling, we may feel the need to discuss it. I think that we can solve the spoilerish problem. It would be a nice idea to post your "spoilerish" comment (comments that would describe a certain scene with a bit of detailed information) under the spoiler tag. Anything else, such as "Michael was great," "I cried when I saw the bathroom scene," "Kat Candler did an amazing job with this movie," and so forth can be posted without the spoiler tag.

I just wrote to Kat Candler and let her know that we are receiving our DVDs and are very impressed with her work. This is her reply: So I am asking each and everyone of you to go and vote. If the libraries buy the DVD, maybe Michael gets a percentage. And even if he doesn't get a percentage, his talent will be exposed to a wider audience. imdb.com/title/tt0465509/

OK second time through, and I'm even more impressed. The films creators/producers really did their homework. So what's other people's take on the final scene? I suppose you could take it metaphysically or such, seeing the lack of a backpack, being apart from his friends, and think the worst. But I came away feeling like, he had grown up, made a breakthrough. He was walking taller, seemed cleaner and unencumbered by his burdens. Anybody else think that?
On another note, it's weird and sad, because on the face of it, it seems like it took his mother's suicide for the family to start healing. Well, I don't think you ever heal completely, but you can find ways to go on, ways to enjoy life and to find meaning and purpose. But loss always sets you apart from the rest. However you can be set apart, but in another way you much more engaged and better able to make everything count.
I know of a situation similar to Zack's, in which one brother carried the burden of his brother's death for years. He still does but I think he's more willing to forgive himself, to be kind to himself. But for years he was always trying to destroy himself in bits and pieces, even ran out in front of a car once. (Folks said it was an accident but I wasn't so sure.)
This movie is incredible. I think it hit the subject right in the core; handled it realistically, responsibly and compassionately. I hope it does become a sort of standard or at least talking point. It can really be a vehicle to help people. And I do remember the actor from "The Patriot." Wow, he's all grown up now.
