While searching Google News for Michael stuff, as I do almost every day, it appears the papers put out a lot of Lost stories to hype the show up over the weekend. I already found one long interview with Michael, and now I found more. So I'll just put them in a collection here.
Here's one from USA Today at www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2008-01-24-lost-main_N.htm with Michael making comments at the end.'

Michael Emerson, who plays the spooky Others leader Ben, says that this season not only keeps up last season's momentum, but that the flash-forward opens great creative opportunities. "None of us knew what was going on until we saw the broadcast. I thought 'Hallelujah! This is going to make this show.' "
The future perspective is "how they're going to spin it out to be suspenseful and dramatic. Who has gotten off the island and at what price?" he says. "Now, there are these bittersweet notes of regret and missed opportunity that will come into play. To the extent the island was some crucible in which people could hope for redemption, maybe not everyone was redeemed, at least not happily."

ABC starts a big Thursday night by airing a one hour recap episode at 8 to lead in to the season four premiere. Even better, they are airing last season's mind blowing finale on Wednesday at 9 to get you even more in the mood. I had a conversation this week with Michael Emerson (Ben) and he told me that the entire cast of the show other than Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly learned of the flash forward when they actually watched the episode on TV like the rest of the world. How cool is that?!?!?
Don't you just love how I name drop so casually?

So you thought Ben was evil on “Lost”?
Brace yourself: Michael Emerson, who plays the nefarious leader of the Others, said his character will no longer be the biggest villain on the series, which returns for a fourth season Thursday at 9 p.m. on WCVB (Ch. 5).
“There is the introduction of a host of new and really dangerous characters,” Emerson said. “We have some seriously frightening characters coming in. Ben more and more will become the devil we know.”
With the cast on an information lockdown, Emerson wouldn’t reveal more but did say fans should expect more changes this season.
“What you’ll see in general is scrambling,” he said. “Nobody has a home anymore. Everyone is in a state of disarray and everyone is on foot. And everyone has sort of fractured into camps, fairly desperate camps. That means that new alliances of convenience or strange bedfellows will arise out of this chaos. Ben will have to live by his wits alone in season four, which is a new challenge for him. We’ll see how he manages.”
The Iowa native, who won an Emmy for playing an unhinged client on “The Practice,” joined “Lost” in its second season as the seemingly innocent Henry Gale. It was a part that was supposed to last for a few episodes.
“It’s been a wonderful surprise,” Emerson said about becoming a series regular. “I think the show was in need of personalizing the adversary.”
In the final moments of last season’s finale, viewers learned that they had been watching Jack (Matthew Fox) in a flash-forward and not in one of the show’s trademark flashbacks.
“It instantly catapults our show into a higher plateau of adult seriousness,” Emerson said. “I think it’s always been a good show. But now that we can traffic in future events and see that there are not necessarily happy endings to all these story lines, I think suddenly there’s a sort of bitter or sad note that seems to me to be both true and very adult.”
Many viewers have speculated that Ben is the one who died in that flash-forward.
“I don’t think it’s Ben,” Emerson said. “I don’t think that’s a satisfying enough occupant. I think whoever is in the coffin has to be someone we care more about. Possibly someone who falls from grace between now and the end of the series. I have a feeling at the end of the day it’s someone who is going to make us really sad and it’s going to justify that terrible place Jack seems to be living in.”

On repeat viewing, the two-part season finale (now available on DVD in “Lost: The Complete Third Season”) is even more rewarding.
Jack’s (Matthew Fox) brutal beating of Ben (Michael Emerson) is the most deserved smackdown of the year, bar none.
