People will click on the thread and think I wrote a novel here ;D Well - maybe for fanfic I did?! I'm still getting used to the idea of fanfic that's only a few paragraphs long. ...hmm. That's not so intimidating for the non fan-fic writers... Maybe Edith could hold a mini-fanfic contest in the Competitions board. ETA: I broke it! ;D

Yay! Reached second page.
I envy people who can write long fanfics. My best ones are always only around 1000 words. Sometimes even less.

Dude, I suprised myself. It's an anomaly for me. But doesn't necessarily mean it's better

I could give free editorial advice, which I do for anyone on this board anyway.

The honor of being your choice! Just kinda along the lines of the caption game (laidback), or a challenge prompt from a LiveJournal community. Just to have fun. Only do it if you think people (and ones other than the 'regular' writers) will give it a try.

The prize could be an "award" in the form of a prize-banner (made by one of you fantastic artists) that the winner could place on their website or use as an avi or sig.

Did you make it through my story, Lisa? (I expect to read the rest of your long Henry fic, you know...)

They could put it below with their banner! I like it.

HenryRocks, I mean, this is FRIGGIN' BRILLIANT!! The island, the way you describe it...the way Ben feels the bedrock of things....your imagination...the details....the inner monologues....YOU HAVE TALENT!!!
Here's the truth, the God's honest, Ben's honest truth: I can imagine Michael Emerson himself reading this outloud.
No sh*t. It's that good.
You'd be tough competition if we do that writing contest here on the board.
Did you post this or a link to it somewhere on the Fuselage?? How about The Tail Section??
People need to read this.
I am sooooo freakin' impressed.
Brava!!!
(stands applauds)

It's ok to be afraid. Be afraid, but do it anyway.
Renae, you have TALENT!!!
How do you know the LOST writers wouldn't want you to be a script consultant???
You have a gift. Whatever you do in life, make sure it involves creative writing.
The whole thing with Richard and the not supposed to be interacting with Dharma thru the journal....brilliant.
Your acuity with visuals (the sun slid down Annie's shoulders) I mean just fabulous!!!
(slow clap erupting into standing ovation)
:-)

I never had a problem with Ben's underperformance at the Dharma school, but I was thrown but non-chronological order. After reading a bit into each segment, I was mostly able to get my footing, but it did throw me. I just decided not to worry about that overmuch and take in the character sketches that were being drawn.
I also was intrigued by the fact that Richard did not like Ben keeping a diary in the Dharma life. Quite proprietary, but not prohibitive.
