Whe Ben returned he brought Juliet back with him. Juliet explained to Sophie about this serum she had created to help to keep the woman stay alive during the preganancy. She told her that they used it on Claire, one of the passengers from the plane and that she survived. Sophie agreed to be injected. She laid on Bens bed as Juliet injected the serum into her stomach. Ben and Juliet left Sophie alone to rest.
"You know it might not work Ben?"
"Well i'm going to do everything for her. I'm not gonna loose her like Annie. Anyways i have a new assignment for you" as Ben headed into the kitchen.

Oh no Zoe! Sayid tying his hair back is never a good thing! Mel wiped away a tear as is fell down her face. She kept reading. It's been remarkably easy to blind Mel to my true intentions. I think even before Ethan died she was beginning to warm to me. Yes, I did go out of my way to frighten and intimidate her. But I believe that only made her stronger.
Asking her to move in to the house with myself and Alex was a last second idea. It has paid off more than I could have imagined. She became comfortable with me almost instantly and because of it began to align her alligence with my own. After Ethan died and I took her baby away from her she needed someone to be with her. I've grabbed the opportunity and don't plan to let it go.Mel flipped a few pages. I've come up with a plan for Mel. It is perfect for her talents. In the time I have spent with her I almost feel as if I have come under her spell. She has a way and endearing herself to you, she is fiercely independent but I find myself wanting to protect her. She is remarkable. Because of this I have decided that she will go to the survivors. Maybe she will suceed where Ethan did not. I have assigned her to Desmond Hume. I'm sure she'll have him falling for her within the week.

Yep, you're right Mel, Sayid's ponytail is NEVER a good thing, lol
"I can explain everything Sayid, but I refuse to tell you anything this way." Zoe said to him coldly. Sayid bent down so he was level with Zoe.
"Well, unfortuantly for you, you're not in the position to call the shots now are you?" Sayid replied glaring at her.
"If you really think I will give you answers like this, no matter how much you hurt me, you are sadly mistaken." Zoe decalred, glaring back at him.
"Well, I guess we'll just have to see about that then, won't we?" Sayid replied. "Why did you come back?" Zoe didn't reply, so Sayid hit her clean across the face......................................

Mel was walking William around the Hydra when Isabel approached her. She was holding a radio.
Mel didn't need to ask, "No." she said firmly.
"He wants to speak with you." Isabel insisted.
"I don't care what he wants. I don't want to talk to him."
"Mel!" Isabel pleaded hopelessly.
"Fine!" said and took the radio. She gave Isabel William. "Will you take him to my room please?"
Isabel and said yes and was off down the hall.
Mel took a deep breath before pushing the button on the radio, "What do you want?" she asked hostily.
"Hello dear." she heard Ben's voice.
"I'm not your dear."
"You were once." he countered.
"Not anymore."
"Very well. Mel, I have another mission for you."
"I'm not interested." Mel said as she leaned against the nearest wall.
"Why are you so suddenly against me Mel?" Ben asked.
"I've been reading your journal."
"And you haven't liked what you have read?"
"Did you really think I would?"
"Not at first, no. Have you finished it?"
"Not yet."
"You should before you start pulling the trigger." he told her.
"What do you want Ben?"
"We have left the village. Everyone. We are heading for the temple."
"Why?"
"There have been complications here. Too many of the survivors know where the village is. The time has come to move, for the time being at least."
"Why didn't Isabel tell me?"
"I told her not too. I didn't want you to worry.
"I wouldn't have. You have plenty of people taking care of you now."
Ben sighed, "Mel, you told me to go. It was your choice to stay at the Hydra."
"I know that Ben. And it looks like I made the right decision. I would much rather be here then out in the jungle."
"I'm afraid that won't be the case for long. I must ask you to go into the jungle once again."
"No." Mel stated.
Ben was silent for a moment. "When I left and you told me you wouldn't be coming with me you promised me something. Do you remember what you said?"
Mel ran a hand through her hair, "Ben, please don't."
"You promised me that if I ever needed you, really needed you for something you would be there. Well, this is it Mel. I need you."
Mel bowed her head, "You never needed me. Not truly."
"Not true. I will send along the details with Richard tonight. You will begin tomorrow evening."
Mel didn't say anything.
"Mel?" Ben asked.
"What?" she whispered.
"Read the rest of the journal. Please."

Blood spattered out Zoe's mouth after Sayid's first powerful blow. She spat and looked back at him, giving him is-that-all-you'v-got? look. Sayid repeated the question, but again, Zoe continued to not answer. He hit her harder across the face this time. Zoe coughed badly from it.
"Why won't you tell me?!" Sayid shouted, hitting her again, her cheek going purple from the bruising. Zoe looked back at him, a drool of blood trickling down her front, she wished she could wipe it away, but with her hands tied back, she could not. She was sure some of her teeth had cracked too.
"I already told you, Sayid," Zoe replied calmly. "I don't agree with torture, so I won't play your rules. Besides, even if I gave you answers, you aren't going to believe me anyway. No matter what answer I give, you are going to think I am lying, so really, you are just wasting your time."
"Yes, you're right. I am." Sayid agreed with her, and then withdrew his gun. "I am wasting my time. Maybe I should just shoot you now! Get it over with."
"What the bloody hell are you doing?" Came a voice from nowhere. Sayid turned round, and Charlie was stood in front of them, in complete shock.
"I am trying to get answers Charlie." Sayid replied calmly. "You heard Jack - she is one of them. You can't trust her." Zoe looked at Charlie desperately.
"Charlie - I can explain everything to you! I am willing to give answers Charlie, but as I said to Sayid, I am not going to give them when I am being submitted to torture." Zoe promised. Charlie looked at her, and she could see the disappointment on his face woth him knowing who she really was, even though she couldn't remember being one of the Others in the first place.
"Shut up you stupid woman!" Sayid said coldly. Charlie glanced from Sayid to Zoe, deep into her eyes, as if he was trying to read her.
"Let her go Sayid." Charlie said quietly.
"What? You can't be serious! You haven't forgotten what they have done Charlie, surely? What they did to you - to Claire-?" Sayid began to protest.
"Sayid, you once told me not to make this personal. That is what you are doing. Untie her, we will talk, and if we are still not convinced - we'll send her back. Exile her." Charlie said coldly to him, giving Zoe a filthy look. Sayid sighed, and reluctantly untied Zoe.
"I want to talk to her alone." Charlie added. Sayid said nothing as he gathered up the ropes he had used. He then went to walk onto the beach, stopping first to be face to face with Charlie.
"Remember Charlie, these people are skilled liars. You probably can't trust a single word she says." Sayid said to him. Charlie nodded.
"I know." He replied darkly. "But I know Zoe better then any of you knew Ben when you had him in the hatch." Sayid stared at him for a few moments before he dissapeared through the jungle and back to the beach.
"Thank you Charlie." Zoe said to him greatfully. Charlie sat down on a broked log on the ground.
"I didn't do it for you." He replied icily.

Mel finished packing her small pack and set it in a chair in her room. Richard had already brought by Ben's instructions. She would be leaving tomorrow.
She took one last look around the room to make sure everything was in order.
She saw Ben's journal lying on the bed where she had left it. She remembered Ben asking her to finish it. She knew this would be her last chance.
She sat down on the bed and picked up the journal. She had learned many things she wish she hadn't by reading this.
She opened it to the last entry and began to read.
I will be leaving to return to the village tomorrow. Sophie will be coming with me but Mel will not. I find the idea of leaving her behind harder to take then it should be.
I have grown attached to having Mel by my side. Yes, at first our interaction was all an illusion. A farce to strengthen my leadership role. And it worked beautifully. But the thought of being without her, not benefitting from her practical advice or not getting to spend time with her and William, it doesn't feel right.
I realize that this was her decision to make and I think she is incredibly strong for making it. I think in another life, a life without distractions, we would have been perfectly suited for each other. But this isn't another life and Mel realized that even before I did. Mel and I are not meant to be and I find it hurts just a bit to write those words down.
Even though it was Mel's choice to stay behind and leave me to Sophie I still feel as if when I get on that boat tomorrow morning I will be abandoning her. I don't think that feeling will ever leave me.
Forgive me.
Goodbye Mel.
Ben
Once again Mel found tears in her eyes. It broke her heart to think about Ben's words. She didn't want to think about anything anymore. Unable to fight the tears, she laid down and cried herself to sleep.

Before Richard left off to tell Mel her new assignement. Sophie ran up to him,
"Richard, wait!" Richard stopped and turn around to look at Sophie. "I just wanted to say Thank you. Thank you for what ever you had said to Ben. He completey different now. In a good way that is" she said with a beaming smile.
"I didn't say anything to him" he replied.
"But, you told me things would change? and it has?" she asked confused.
Richard just smiled. "That wasn't down to me." He noticed John in the background, and looked over to him. Sophie turned to look and saw John too.
"Him?" Sophie asked.
But when she turned to look back at Richard he was already heading his way to the docks. Sophie glanced back at John again and then headed home.
..........................................................................
"I hate camping" Sophie shrugged on the camp bed in her and Ben's tent. Ben chuckled as he was writing something down.
"It's only for a short time. When we get to the temple. Things will be different"
"I hope so" she said. Sophie laid down looking up at the tent ceiling. Ben turned his chair around to look at her. He grabbed his cane and stood up infront of her. Sophie leapt up in shock. "Ben! This is impossible. You can't i mean its only been a week or so?"
"Come here" he said Sophie stood up and went over to him he put a arm around her, and started to take her outside.
"Where are we going?" she asked.
"For a walk"
"Are you sure? Can you manage?"
"Sophie i'm fine" as Sophie helped him along.

Mel trudged through the jungle. It had been hours since the boat had taken her from the Hydra to the main island. She had been walking the entire time. Ben wanted her at her destination before dark.
It had been hard leaving the Hydra, and William behind. She wanted to take him with her but it would have been too dangerous. She knew Isabel would take good care of him.
****************************************************
It was nealy dusk when Mel reached the beach camp. She watched the survivors move around from the protection of the jungle.
'Talk about feeding the lamb to the lions.' she thought to herself. Ben was crazy for asking her to come back here after they knew who she really was.
She took a deep breath and left the cover of the trees. She walked calmly at an even pace as people began to notice her. Some of them gasped when they saw who she was.
When she was nearly to the camp she raised her arms above her head in surrender. She saw Sayid and Jack running toward her with murder on their faces.
Her last thought before her capture was, 'Here we go.'

"So you better start explaining then." Charlie started.
"Er...yeah. Well, if I knew where to begin..." Zoe replied. "Charlie....I am more of one of you. One of the plane survivors more then I was ever one of the Others. My life with them....I don't remember it. Well....hardly any of it. My life began here when I hit my head on that rock running away from them. I don't like it back there with them. Well, to be honest, I don't like it any more much here - the fighting over leadership, the war between you and them. I'm on my own, and I want to go home Charlie. Being here is better for me though. I have friends here. People I care about. People....people I love." Zoe explained.
"I find this all very hard to believe." Charlie replied, sighing heavily. "When you first came here, you knew what you were doing. You were a very skilled liar. That was before you hit your head and got amnesia. How do I know you're not just putting on a front to infiltrate us again?"
"Because I am still not sorry Ethan is dead." Zoe replied. "I'm still not sorry he is dead, even though I only found out a few days ago that he is my father. My father - who you killed. I am still glad he is dead. Charlie. I care more about you then anyone on this island. I would do anything to prove that to you." Charlie stared at her for a moment, thinking.
"Okay. I believe you." He said to her firmly. "Follow me, we'll go back to the beach. I have to see Desmond - we have been assigned to go to this under water station. 'The Looking Glass'. You can help us." Zoe gave Charlie a puzzled look.
"Assignment?" Zoe asked.
"Yes. Your people are blocking the signal we need to use to contact the outside world. We are going to unblock it so we can get home." Charlie replied as he started to walk back onto the beach. Zoe and Charlie stopped and stared as they saw ahead of them, Mel, standing still with her back to them, and Sayid with Jack charging at her.

Sayid reached her first. He threw Mel to the ground hard and pinned her arms behind her back.
"She is one of them!" he yelled.
Jack ran up to them, "Yeah Sayid, we all know."
Mel glanced up and Sayid through her hair. He didn't look like he was in a good frame of mind at all. She noticied small flecks of what looked like dried blood on his shirt.
"We will tie her up and interrogate her." Sayid said.
Jack shook his head knowing it would be useless to argue with him right now. "Fine, take her over by my tent and tie her to the tree. Do not do anything else until I get there."
Sayid pulled Mel off of the ground. When he did she saw Zoe standing not too far off watching the scene. Zoe didn't look too good. Someone had hit her across the face and Mel had good idea who it was.
Mel also saw who Zoe was standing with. She quirked an eyebrow when Zoe grabbed his hand. Why would she be holding hands with the man who killed her father?
Sayid drug her along the beach not bothering to slow down so she could keep up. Along the way to Jack's tent they passed most of the survivors. Mel recognized the majority of them from the files Ben had shown her.
As they were walking Juliet stepped out of her tent. Her normally impassive face showed her surprise when she recognized Mel. Mel winked at her as she went by.
Finally they came to Jack's tent and Sayid roughly tied Mel to the tree. He didn't say anything to her and she didn't bother. She knew he would take any opportunity he could to hurt her.
When he was done he bent down close to her face, "I'll be seeing you soon. You can count on that." he whispered, then stalked away.

Zoe gave Charlie a puzzled look. She recognised the young woman. It was Mel. She had helped her get back to Charlie. She couldn't stop and let Sayid do his normal routine. She felt her blood inside her boil. She kept hold tight of Charlie, and jogged along the beach, trying to keep up with Sayid dragging Mel away. She caught up with them as Sayid was about to stalk away.
"Hey, you let her go. She's cool." Zoe said to him coldly. Sayid said nothing in response to that and tried to push past her, but Zoe pushed him back.
"Let her go." She said dangerously to her.
"Why should we trust you Zoe? Why should we trust any of you, after what you have all done to us"? Sayid replied coldly. Zoe felt Charlie squeeze her hand tightly.
"Hey man, leave her alone, she explained what happened and I believe her." Charlie replied firmly to Sayid.
"Sayid, untie her." Zoe repeated.
"How about you give me one good reason to do that?" Sayid replied raising an eyebrow at her mcokingly. Zoe sighed heavily.
"Because she is pregnant." She lied smoothly. "You're not going to harm a pregnant woman are you? Risk an innocent baby's life?" Zoe replied raising an eyebrow at him.

Sayid looked down at Mel, "Is this true?" he asked her through clenced teeth.
Mel only smiled at him brightly.
"Hey!" the heard yelled from down the beach. They looked to see Desmond running towards them. Jack wasn't far behind.
"Let her go!" Desmond demanded when he saw Mel was tied up.
"She is one of them Desmond." Sayid explained.
"I don't bloody care! You're not going to tie her up like some animal!" Desmond said diving behind the tree and tearing at the ropes that bound Mel.
Jack joined them as Desmond released Mel from the ropes and pulled Mel to her feet.
"Thank you." she whispered to him and he nodded.
"Desmond, you are not taking her! We have to get some answers." Sayid ordered grabbing Desmond's arm.
Desmond turned around and punched Sayid in the jaw. "You stay away from her!" he warned.
Desmond took Mel's hand and started leading her away from Sayid. Jack followed them.
Before they got too far Mel looked over her shoulder at Zoe and mouthed, "Thanks."

Zoe simply nodded with a hidden smile before Charlie led her away from the main bustle of camp.
"So what are you planning to do exactly? With this other hatch? How do we get there? How do we shut it off?" Zoe asked.
"We have to go on a boat, swim under water and locate the underwater hatch. Then we push the button and signal is unblocked. " Charlie explained birefly. "Or rather, I will do the diving underwater and flicking the switch. You will be waiting on the boat with Desmond if anything goes wrong."
"Wait - this hatch is underwater?" Zoe asked frowning.
"Yeah." Charlie replied.
"How did you find out where it is?" Zoe asked.
"Juliet told us." Charlie replied. "While we unblock the signal, Jack is taking everyone to the radio tower so we can send out a distress call, and hopeful rescue will come and take us all home!" Zoe smiled weakly at him, sure that things, just like they always do, never go according to plan.
"When do we set off then?" Zoe asked.
"Soon - but I need to go talk to Claire first. Do you mind waiting here?" Charlie asked. Zoe nodded, and Charlie kissed her on her forehead before he left to go find her.

"Were gonna need a distraction, we know they coming for the pregnant women, and we have the dynamite. Who's staying behind?" Jack asked looking at Sayid.
"Me, Jin and Bernard."
"We're gonna need another distraction so that they don't go after Charlie, Desmond and Zoe." said Jack, trying to come up with another plan.
"Ben has a weakness you know" said Juliet standing behind them. Sayid just glared at her for even talking.
"Why should we listen to her?" he snapped.
"Go on....." said Jack. Sayid just rolled his eyes.
"Sophie!" she said looking at Jack.
"We take her he be sure to come after her."
"Exactly a group take her one way, he go's after her. Then we go to the tower." she smirked. Jack ast and thought about it,
"Alright let's do it! This is how its gonna work................"
...........................................................................
"Where you going?" Ben asked Sophie, as she was leaving the tent.
"Just to get some water from the stream. I'll be back in a few mins"
"Let me come with you"
"No no its fine Ben, I can manage" as she pulled the tent door and headed out. Ben carried on writing in his journal. Sophie was at the stream dipping her canister in it. She heard a noise and looked around not seeing anything. She carried on poruing more water into her bottle. When suddenly a bag was thrown over her head. She screamed out loud, trying to fight herself off. But the person was too strong for her. Suddenly she got whacked on the back of the head, and was dragged out into the jungle. Ben heard the screams from his tent. He instantly knew it was Sophie and grabbed his cane and hobbled out his tent as quick as he could.
"Ryan to the stream!" he ordered, Ryan quickly got up from his chair, grabbed a gun and headed over with Tom. As Ben hobbled as quick as he could go. When Ben arrived Sophie was gone.
"Sophie?" he shouted but there was no reply, "Search for her". Ryan and Tom went around looking for her. It had been over an hour and there was no sign of her. Ben was angry. "It happens now. Ryan how quickly can you put together a team?"
"If i take my 10 best, we could set up to hit them by nightfall"
"Then you'd better get going."
.................................................................
Hours had passed and Ben found out that the tents were filled with dynamite, that all his plan had gone wrong. That Charlie Pace was in the looking glass, and that the rest were heading to the tower. All becuase his daughter and juliet had betrayed him. Ben had to think quick of what to do. He grabbed out somes map and started to draw out where the 815ers would be and where he was. Finding a marking point where they would meet. He grabbed his satchel and started to pack a few things.
"Ben you can't leave."
"Take everyone to the temple! I have to stop them. To Protect the island"
"and Sophie?" said Richard.
"She will be with them. The island is more important right now!"
"You can't go on your own."
"I'll go!" said alex.
"Then lets get going!" he snapped

Hey, I dunno whether you want Mel to come to the looking glass are not, so I won't write that, but if you want to be included, I can come back and edit.
"Are you ready?" Charlie asked as he walked over to Zoe who was sitting down on the beach, picking up handfuls of sand and letting the flow through her fingers. She looked up at Charlie when he came over to talk to her.
"Yeah. I'm ready." Zoe replied. Charlie held out his hand and Zoe took it, Charlie lifting her to her feet. They walked over to the boat Karl had provided them earlier. Charlie turned to her.
"You know, you don't have to do this." He said to her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "You can go with Jack if you want. To the radio tower." Zoe shook her head at him.
"No, I want to help. Someone needs to look out for you both." Zoe replied firmly.
"Are you really sure? This could be danerous - " Charlie started.
"Do you really mean are you sure you want me to come?" Zoe asked raising an eyebrow at him. "What's made you change your mind? Don't you want me to come?"
"No - I just thought I needed - " Charlie trailed off. "Nevermind, it doesn't matter."
"Charlie." Zoe started.
"No, it's nothing, forget I said anything, I don't really know myself." Charlie assured her. Charlie put his hand in his pocket and handed her a letter.
"What's this?" Zoe asked, taking it from him and began to open it, but Charlie grabbed her hands suddenly to stop her.
"No! Don't open it yet! I don't want you to read that until after we have flicked the switch. Okay?" Charlie explained.
"Why?" Zoe asked with a puzzled look.
"Because that's the way it has to be." Charlie said softly. He then touched her face, stroking her cheek gently, and kissed her. "Promise me. Promise you won't open it until we have flicked the switch?" Zoe pocketed the letter.
"Okay - I promise" Zoe replied, feeling a little uncomfortable, sure that Charlie wasn't telling her something.
"Alright brother - sister. Shall we get this in the water then?" Desmond said to them. Charlie and Zoe nodded and they grabbed the boat and began merging it into the ocean.
