"If you believe in something so bad it can happen."
"What?"
"You want to get back to the island don't you?" Richard asked Sophie nodded still sitting on the vets table. "Close your eyes." Sophie looked at him funny. "Go on.." he encouraged her. Sophie rolled her eyes at richard then closed them huffing.
"Your not gonna kiss me are you?" she said jokingly.
"No" Richard chuckled placing his hands on hers. "Now open them." he whispered. Sophie opened her eyes and was in shock to what she saw. She was surrounded by jungle. She could hear the birds chirping in the background. A stream trickling near by. She couldn't believe it she was on the island. "Welcome home......."
Suddenly Sophie woke up, finding herself in bed. Ben was laying next to her sleeping peacefully. She sat up and rolled her pajamas sleeve. She checked if she had dreamt all that. Everything with Richard. But then she realise it weren't a dream when she saw the plaster he placed on her after she got injected with serum. She had another vision.
"What you doing?" Ben stirred rubbing his eyes looking at her.
"Nothing..." she sighed laying back down on the bed. She rolled over so she was laying on his chest. Ben winced a little. The shot wound that Mel caused a few months back still hurted him. "Sorry" she whispered. Planting a kiss nearby it. Ben smiled stroking her hair. "Why did she shoot you?" Sophie quesioned. "You never told me."
"Because she was angry."
"I know that, but why?" she asked. "Because were married?"
"Thats part of it. She wanted William and Bella back. I promised to bring them back."
"And you never did!" Sophie sighed.
"Your so great with them Sophie. You treat like your own. Like Molly."
"But thats the thing Ben they not mine. They belong with their mother."
.................................................................
It was the next day Ben was out doing buisness with Sayid. Sophie had taken the kids to the park. As she was packing the stuff up she noticed two men in a car watching her and one taking pics of her and the children.
"William come here darling." Sophie hollared him over. Placing Molly and Bella into the double buggy. She picked up William and walked quickly pushing the buggy along. She looked back as she watched one guy get out and start to follow her while the car drove off. Sophie grabbed her moblie and instantly called Ben.
"I'm being followed." she said.
"Ok, get back to the house i will be there as soon as i can." Ben replied.
Sophie rushed home. Taking the kids out the buggy she rushed them upstairs. When the door knocked. "Stay up here" she said as he kissed them all. Heading down the stairs she asked. "Who is it?"
"Mrs Moriarty we have a deliverly." the man shouted back. Sophie put the chain on the door and opened it.
"Then wheres your parcel?" she asked looking at the man.
"Right here Sophie."
Sophie was shocked they had been found. She noticed him starting to pull out a gun. She gasped slamming the door shut. She ran upstairs into her bedroom she grabbed her gun from her draw. Loaded it up and ran to the kids. She huddled them all up as she sat next to them. "Shhh its gonna be alright. Daddys coming to save us all" she whispered hoping any minute Ben would show up. She heard the man kick the door down and started to come up the stairs.
"You been a bad girl Sophie." he said as he kicked each rooms door open to find her. Sophie closed her eyes wishing it would all go away. Praying in her mind Ben was coming. He was on the last door the nursery door. He kicked it open aming his gun, there was nothing. No one. The other man finally joined him "Check downstairs!" he ordered.
Sophie opened her eyes finding herself on the island again. She remembered Richards words "If you believe in something so bad it can happen." He was right. Sophie was home. She sighed in relief and held all the kids as she cried for happieness.

Christian sat beside Mel still trying to explain to her about Desmond and Emma. He had his arm around her and was whispering furiously into her ear when she finally spoke.
"Jack's coming." she said so softly he barely heard her.
They both looked up and saw Jack storming towards them.
"Hello son." Christian said as he stood.
Jack didn't say anything. He charged up the steps and punched his father in the jaw.
Mel was out of her chair in an instant. She didn't run to check if Christian was alright, but instead grabbed her gun out of her waistband and pointed it at Jack.
"We're not going to have any of that." she said lowly.
Jack shook his head, "You won't shoot me."
"I find it hard to hear that people still believe that I'm not capable of shooting someone. Have I not proven myself time and time again?"
Christian came up behind Mel and placed a hand on her waist. "Thank you darling, but I don't think the gun is necessary. Jack is just upset. He needed to take his anger out on someone."
"Who better than you dad? It's your fault all of those people are dead." Jack seethed as he took a step forward.
Mel straightened her gun, getting closer to Jack. "That's close enough."
"What has happened to you?" Jack asked. "You've changed so much."
Mel shrugged, "I love your father Jack. I can't sit by and watch you attack him."
"The purge has affected Mel, Jack. Just as it has everyone. Why don't we decided to go our separate ways for now? We can discuss things later." Christian said trying to mediate.
"Fine." Jack nodded. "But I want answers."
Mel smirked, "You should just be happy that you are alive. And you were wrong before Jack. Christian isn't the one who did this. It was someone else."
"Who?"
"Who do you think? Who claims to know this island better than anyone else?" Mel mocked.
Jack was silent for a few moments before speaking, "Locke."
"Yes." Christian nodded, "And where could he be?"

Zoe was feeding her kids in Sawyer's shelter he had made for himself when he had stayed on the beach after the plane first ever crashed on the island. Sawyer had gone out, he said he needed a walk. Zoe couldn't believe how much they had grown now. They were ten months now. It wouldn't be far off from their first birthday.
Zoe smiled at them warmly. They were beautiful, and looking more like Charlie everyday. Once fed, she tucked them up in Aaron's old cradle. They were both a bit big for it now, so Zoe had to make a sling to carry the other in, taking turns for who got the cot.
Zoe stepped swiftly out Sawyer's shelter. She glanced around camp and spotted Sawyer. He was sat outside Kate's shelter, holding something. Curious, she walked over to him. He was holding a toy aeroplane. Zoe frowned as she sat down next to him.
"You miss her don't you?" Zoe said to him. Sawyer nodded. Zoe bit her lip and looked down at the sand. "There's more too it isn't there James? You're still in love with her." She mumbled eventually. Sawyer looked up her sharply, but didn't say anything. She could see it in his eyes that he knew she was right.
"I'm sorry - I didn't meant too - I mean, I just want you to know, you can talk to me about it if you want." Zoe added nervously.
"It's okay." Sawyer replied. "I'm not angry, don't look so worried."
"I wouldn't blame you." Zoe replied softly, and reached out to stroke his hair. Sawyer pulled her closer, securing her and the baby at the same time.
"Yeah, well, I know you miss Charlie, and I know you are still in love with him, and that is something you will never get over." Sawyer replied seriously. "I have noticed it. You looking at the children. You see him every time you look at them, don't you?" Zoe looked away from him, feeling a tear roll down her cheek. Sawyer reached out and held her chin gently, making her face him.
"It's okay." He said to her, and kissed her briefly. "It's okay." Sawyer then stood up suddenly, making Zoe almost fall over. She stood up.
"What is it?" She asked.
"I heard voices." Sawyer whispered. He and Zoe peered around Kate's shelter to see Desmond and Emma emerging from Desmond's old shelter, and Locke approaching them from the jungle. Zoe frowned. When did they get here? And how long had they been here, and she had not noticed them? She shrugged assuming that Sawyer and herself had been so obsorbed with each other, it could have been easy to carry on and them to go un-noticed.
"It looks like something serious is going on. Shall we go over and find out what's up?" Zoe asked looking up at Sawyer who was also frowning as he stared at the scene ahead.

Wiping her tears of happyness and off fear from thinking those men would hurt the children. She sighed thinking of Ben. Realising she still had her mobile with her. In her pocket she pulled it out and dialled Bens number. She instantly rang him....
.......................................
"Sophie?" Ben shouted as him, Richard and Sayid. Turned up finding the place a mess. Like it been burgled.
"Soph" Richard called too.
The men checked everywhere but the place was empty. "They've got her and the children." Ben stated. Suddenly he felt the vibrations of a phone call from his pocket. Picking it up he saw Sophies name flashing as he glanced then looked at Richard. "Its Sophie!"
"Sophie!" he said, "Where are you? Are you safe? The children?"
"We're fine Ben." she replied still shocked. "You not gonna believe this...........I'm on the island."
"What? How?"
"I dunno Ben. I was in the nursery huddled up with the kids, the next thing I'm here." The phone started to loose it signal, starting to break up.
"Sophie i can't hear you. Just get to the barricks and stay put ok?" Not hearing a reply back he said. "I love you." before hanging up the phone. He turned to look at Richard. "We need to back to the island. She's there!" he turned to Sayid. "You know what to do. I'll see you in 3 months."

Locke approached Desmond with a friendly smile. "I have a message for you from Jacob," he said. "But Emma doesn't need to be here for it."
"I'm staying with Desmond," she growled in response. Her hand was on her gun, ready for action.
Locke shrugged. "Fair enough," he said. "But don't say I didn't warn you." In an instant Locke grabbed Emma's arm roughly and pulled her toward him. He pressed his hunting knife dangerously close to her neck.
"What are you doing, brotha?" Desmond yelled. He held his gun at the level of Locke's head.
Emma tried to laugh carelessly. "You've never been a killer, Locke. I know you won't hurt me." Her eyes met Desmond's. They both knew this could only end badly.
Locke's expression was deadly serious. "Times have changed, Emma. I'd put the gun down if I were you, Desmond."
Desmond dropped the gun to the ground and lifted his hands. "You said you had a message from Jacob. What is the message?"
"Come closer." Locke beckoned to Desmond. As Desmond reluctantly stepped closer Locke simultaneously released Emma and grabbed Desmond's arm.
"You know too much, and Jacob doesn't like it. If you had stayed in the village with the others, I wouldn't have had to pay you a personal visit. I'm so sorry, Desmond." Without a moment's hesitation, Locke plunged his hunting knife into Desmond's stomach.
Everything happened so quickly that Emma had no time to react. She had barely realized what happened when Desmond's limp body fell to the ground. Locke turned around and fled into the jungle. Emma tried to shoot him from behind but she was so shaky she missed every time.
It was too late. Desmond lay in a pool of his own blood. Emma ran to him and held him close, sobbing wildly. "No, Des, don't leave me!" she screamed.
Desmond weakened rapidly. He found it difficult to form words. "Tell Mel I love her." Emma froze in horror. These were going to be his last words? After everything she had done to release him from his prison in the Orchid station? After the love they had shared before all the island's drama came between them? His last thoughts were of Mel? Emma shook her head in confusion.
"No, Des. You're not leaving me. Jack will fix you!" Emma spotted Sawyer and Zoe running towards them. She had no idea how long they had been there, but she was grateful that they could help save Desmond. "Go get Jack!" she screamed at them.
Desmond touched her face softly. "He won't make it in time." he paused. "You've always loved me the most, Emma. More than Mel, even more than Penny. And I've always loved you. But I'll see you in another life. This isn't goodbye."
"No, Des." Emma refused to give in. She clutched his body close to her and sobbed wildly. "I won't let you go."

"Listen everyone." Mel called to the small crowd. "I know that this is a difficult time for everyone. No one expected this kind of tragedy. You all need time to mourn and you will have it. But first we have to move the bodies. If they stay here they will begin to decompose and the toxins that killed them will be released harming everyone."
"Why don't you do it?" someone asked harshly.
Mel looked out and found the source of the voice, "This is a task for everyone Jack. Now more than ever we are going to need to band together. There aren't many of us left now. We have to stick together to survive."
Jack looked at the crowd. Christian stood beside Mel showing his support of her little speech. He was, after all, the one who told her to make it.
"Are you all seriously believeing this? You shouldn't believe anything that comes out of that woman's mouth. She is a liar."
"Jack." Christian warned.
Jack glared at his father than at Mel. Then he turned and stormed off into the jungle. No doubt out to find Emma.
"Let's get started." Mel said and everyone nodded sadly and got to work.
Mel turned to Christian who took her hand in his own. "Good job darling." he said kissing her hand.
"What if they find out Christian? What if they find out that we did this to them?"
"If all goes well, they will never know we had anything to do with it. Besides, John Locke is the one who really made it happen."
"Don't think for a second that he won't drag us with him if he goes down." Mel sighed.
"You're worrying too much Mel."
"Do you think these people have forgotten all the people I have killed on this island? Hell, I shot Ethan in front of them. They won't hesitate to crucify me the first chance they get. And your son will be first in line."
"Darling, if you ever trusted in anything I've told you, trust in this. You and I are going to be around for a long time." Christian smiled.

Sawyer and Zoe ran over as soon as Locke had stabbed Desmond. Zoe's face had turned white with horror, shock and fear, she could feel tears spilling down her face. Not again. Not more deaths. One of Charlie's best friends too.
"Go get Jack!" Emma screamed at them both. Zoe cradling baby Charlie in her little sling for him, tears spilling quicker down her. Zoe nodded and went to run through the jungle, but Sawyer grabbed her arm.
"No. You need to stay here. You have Abbie back in my shelter remember? Besides, it's not safe." Sawyer told her firmly. "I'll go."
"Be careful!" Zoe said warningly to him and kissed him. He nodded and ran off into the jungle. When he was out of sight Zoe bent down beside Emma, cooing Charlie at the same time to calm him down. Emma and Desmond were talking, Zoe fearing that Desmond's words were his last.
"I'm so sorry Emma." Zoe said to her gently. "But we are going to fix this. Sawyer will be back with Jack, and everything is going to be okay. But I need you to listen to me, just for a moment. I know this is going to be harsh for me asking you, especially at a time like this. But I need you to look after Abbie for me. I'm going to find Locke. Take Desmond into Sawyer's tent. That's where Abbie is. I can't leave her alone, but I can't take both Charlie and her with me. Wait there with her, and Desmond is more likely to be safe in Sawyer's shelter anyway, if Locke comes back and see's your not in view. I promise, I won't be long."
Before Emma could answer, Zoe stood up, and gingerly ran into the jungle in the direction Locke had gone in, clutching tightly to baby Charlie.
With Locke being not in his fittest years, Zoe knew it wouldn't be hard to catch up with him, but it made it difficult with a baby to hang onto. She needed him with her. She knew he was her only protection.
Five minutes it took to catch up to Locke. He stopped at the sight of her, and she slowed down.
"Why?" She asked dangerously. Locke turned round fully to face her now, he still had his knife in his hand, and it dribbled with Desmond's blood. Zoe flinched at the sight of it.
"It was a sacrifice the island-" Locke started.
"Oh don't give me that bollocks." Zoe screamed. "What about Charlie? Was he a sacrifice the island demanded too? Mikhail killed him Locke. In cold blood. Just like you did a moment ago. It wasn't a sacrifice John. It was murder."
"You don't understand." Locke replied shaking his head. "Jacob-"
"Jacob says this, Jacob said that.." Zoe mimicked harshly. "Tell me John. Who really told you? The man himself, or someone claiming that he said these things?" Locke glared at her and said nothing.
"It's Ben isn't it?" Zoe asked sharply. Locke scoffed.
"You have no idea, do you?" Locke replied, advancing towards her. Zoe didn't move from her spot. She wasn't afraid of him. "You haven't a clue about what's going on here. Too wrapped up in your own little world with Sawyer."
"What's that supposed to mean?" She snapped at him.
"The people at the village. They've all gone." Locke told her coldly. Zoe clasped her hand around her mouth. "There was a pruge. You should have been there. You were on the list to be killed too." Zoe glared at him angrily. He wouldn't, would he?
"Do you think I'm afraid of you John? I know you wouldn't harm me. Not when I have an innocent child in my arms. Charlie's baby. The baby of a man you once cared for. Or have you forgotten that he once looked up to you? Imagine, he would be turning in his grave of he knew what you had done." Zoe spat at him.
"I never planned on you being on the list. I argued against it. Why do you think Sawyer suggested to take you to the beach for a treat. For a 'mini break'?" Locke asked raising an eyebrow. Zoe looked at him wide eyed and mouthed.
"You?" She asked in disbelief.

"You!" Sawyer growled as he threw Mel against the wall of one of the houses. His hand wrapped tight around her throat.
"What?" she struggled.
"What did you do!" Sawyer yelled, but he already knew.
Mel clawed uselessly at his hand but it didn't loosen. Her eyes darted around for help but there was no one around.
"Your hubby ain't going to save you now. He's far away."
He was right, Christian was off with the rest of the village, burying the bodies. Mel had been left behind in case anyone showed up from the jungle.
"I met Jack in the jungle." Sawyer began, "In fact I was coming to get him because your man Locke gutted Desmond. I thought my day had been bad until Jack told me what happened here. All those people, dead."
"Sawyer." Mel whispered.
"Shut up. Jack told me it was you. You and Christian."
"Please." she begged as her vision became hazy.
Finally Sawyer let up so she could talk. "You better explain yourself."
"It wasn't me or Christian. It was Locke."
"What?" Sawyer asked.
"Locke, he killed them all."
Sawyer's eyes narrowed "Then why didn't he kill you? That man don't like you one bit."
"Because I wasn't on the list! Niether were you. That's why you are alive right now."
"Why should I believe anything you're saying?" he asked.
"You either do or you don't. It doesn't matter to me."
Sawyer released her and she sunk to the ground. She looked up at him, her eyes bright.
"Sawyer?"
"Yeah?" he nearly roared.
Mel bit her lip. She was sure she wasn't suposed to tell him this, "Sawyer, Zoe is on the list."
Sawyer's eyes got wide as he understood. He didn't stop to think. He took off into the jungle towards the beach.

Emma moved as if in a dream. She struggled to drag Desmond's body into Sawyer's shelter. It wasn't easy with her six-months pregnant belly, but she managed somehow. Abbie was there, sound asleep in her cradle and, thankfully, oblivious to the tragedy surrounding her.
Desmond was breathing shallowly and mumbling incoherently. Emma placed her hands over his wound but the blood kept pouring out of him. "Where is Jack?" she whispered desperately. Her tears fell as she realized Des probably wouldn't make it.
As if in answer to her plea, Emma heard Jack's voice calling for her. "We're in Sawyer's tent!" she cried.
Without a word Jack went right to work on Desmond. He tore up a shirt to cover the wound, but it was too late. Desmond had already lost too much blood. Jack shook his head sadly, his face grim. "He's already gone."
Jack closed Desmond's eyes, and moved towards Emma. She collapsed in his arms, still sobbing.

Locke nodded. Zoe shook her head at him.
"Why?" Zoe asked frowning at him. "As you are so devoted to this island, doing everything 'for the island'. If the island wants me dead. If 'Jacob' wants me dead. Then why didn't you let me die?"
"Because." Locke replied. "You're not flawed. You changed."
"Changed?" Zoe asked more confused then ever. "What are you talking about?"
"When you sided with me, when you accompanied me, shortly after Charlie's death. When I helped you. That's when you changed. When you became a good person. When you didn't deserve to die." Locke replied.
"Or because perhaps I am a mother?" Zoe replied raising an eyebrow.
"If that were true, do you think Claire would still be here?" Locke replied raising an eyebrow at him. Zoe stared at him in pure horror.
"You didn't..." She started. He nodded.
"Well, not me. Christian." He replied. Zoe shook her head, shaking.
"No, no, that's not possible." She replied, feeling more tears spill down her face. She knew she had some rivalary towards Claire over Charlie, but it didn't mean she had hated her. How could they? When she had Aaron?
"You don't need to worry about Aaron. Kate is looking after him now." Locke answered what she was thinking.
"But...Kate left ages ago." Zoe replied preplexed.
"Only on a temporary basis. Claire and Kate had made a pre plan. To help Kate get off when she would get arrested back in L.A. Claire was going to get him back once the trial was over." Locke explained. Then he smirked. "Guess she won't be now."
"You're sick. You bastard!" Zoe screamed, and she slapped him. Charlie began to cry again.
"You know, it's not me you should be taking this up with. Christian and Mel were involved too." Locke added. Zoe looked at him darkly, also in disbelief.
"That kind of thing I could expect from him." She said quietly to him. "But not you. I;m very disappointed in you. I thought I could trust you. I LOOKED UP TO YOU!"
Locke just stared at her sadly.
"Run." She said suddenly.
"What?" Locke replied.
"Run." She repeated. "While you still can. I am so tempted to drop kick you and snatch that knife right out of your hands, and plunging it into your black heart without hesistation. But there have been too many funerals lately, and my children have been exposed to too many deaths for their life time, and I know, when Sawyer comes back, he'll come after you. So run. While you still can."

Emma slept fitfully while Jack prepared for Desmond's sendoff. He had found a raft left behind by Cameron's crew, and thought it would be fitting to send him back to the ocean that had first brought him to the island.
Emma woke up to Abbie's cries and picked her up out of the cradle. Abbie immediately smiled, and Emma couldn't help but smile back, grateful for the distraction from her raw grief. She realized she had to remain strong for her own baby.
Jack came to get her. "He's ready, if you want to say goodbye. Then we should head back to the village before it gets dark."
"Do we have to go back there, Jack? From what you've described, it sounds horrible. And won't Zoe come looking for Abbie here?"
Jack nodded. "I'll leave a note for them. We need to be in the village now; we'll have to deal with what happened there. I'm worried about what my father has planned next." he glanced at her growing belly. "And most of all, you need some real rest."
"And Locke?" Emma added bitterly. "What happens to him?"
Jack didn't answer. "Let's say goodbye to Desmond."
Emma nodded. She carried Abbie to the edge of the ocean and knelt down beside the raft containing Desmond's lifeless body. "I'll see you in another life, Des," she whispered, and kissed his forehead. Jack pushed the raft into the water, then reached for her hand. They stood together and watched as Desmond was carried off by the waves. Now was the time to look towards the future, not the past.
But Locke had taken away the most important person in her life, after Jack, and she would never forgive. She swore to herself that she would make him pay for Desmond's death.

Sophie hung up the phone when she realised she had been cut off by Ben. All she heard him say was the Barricks. Putting it in her pocket. She looked at the children and sighed. "Now lets get ourselves home." she sighed picking them all up and trying to hold Williams hand as he struggled to walk along the jungle floor.

Christian found Mel still sitting against the house, her fingers running lightly over her bruised neck.
He saw the angry red color on her throat and ran to her.
"Darling what happened to you?" he asked, his voice full of worry.
She smiled at him for caring about her so much, "Sawyer happened."
Christian stood and looked around. "Where is he? Tell me right now."
Mel pulled Christian back down, "It's okay love, he was just reacting to the purge. Jack told him on his way to the jungle. Besides, you can't run off and fight everyone who had a problem with me. You'd never be home." she smiled.
Christian kissed her swiftly on the lips, "Darling, I wasn't going to fight him for hurting you, I was going to kill him."
Mel squeezed his hand. She believed what he said. "Thank you. But I think Sawyer may turn out to be useful to us after all."
Christian quirked his eyebrow, "Do tell."
"He took off when I told him that Zoe was on the list."
"Why would you do that?"
"I don't know. It just came out. But he didn't necessarily run after Zoe. He was going for Locke."
Understanding came to Christian's eyes, "Now that Locke's job is done."
"We don't need him anymore." Mel finished. "And who better than Sawyer to get rid of him? He's already killed John's father. Why not one more?"
"John will be dangerous if he comes back here. He'll let this power go to his head."
"Which is why it's better if he doesn't make it back."
Christian smiled, "You, my wife, are a genius." he praised as he pulled her to her feet then surprised her by swinging her up into his arms.
Mel wrapped her arms around his neck, "I learned it all from my husband." she laughed.

Zoe watched Locke as he looked at her for a moment, before turning on his heel and he walked away. She glared at him until he was out of sight before walking through the jungle and headed back to the beach.
She hadn't been walking for long when she heard footsteps. She ducked behind a tree and waited paitently, keeping her eye on where she heard the footsteps coming from. She took a deep sigh of relief when she was it was Sophie. Slighty suprised to see her after her long and sudden absense. Zoe emerged from her hiding place, Charlie peacefully asleep in her arms now. She approached Sophie and the children.
"Sophie?"

Mel rushed from the bedroom to the front door.
"I'm coming!" she called to the insistent knock. It had been a few days since the purge and so far everything had been calm. All of the bodies had been buried and everyone had been dealing with it in their own way. Christian had been doing his best to distract her from the whole ordeal. He'd barely let her out of the bedroom.
Both Jack and Sawyer had yet to return from the jungle. Mel's heart was heavy at the thought of Desmond being dead but Christian was trying to keep her mind off that as well. Still her thoughts went to Des. He had told her she needed to live, that she would be important in the future of the island. She wished he knew what he meant by that.
All of her and Christian's plans had turned out exactly how they wanted. Jacob was happy that they had fulfilled his wishes and he had promised them peace. Now all they wanted to do was live together in their little house in their quiet village. They'd had enough drama and death in their lives. Now they wanted to simply live.
As Mel was moving towards the door she ran her foot into the end table by the couch.
"Damn!" she cursed as she grabbed her foot.
The knock at the door became louder.
"I said I was coming!"
Mel shook her head at her own clumsyness and thought about Jacob's promise. He said they were done. That he would ask no more of them. They could finally be happy.
Mel knew deep in her heart that he was lying. She'd put on a smile and thanked him graciously but she didn't truly believe his words. No one could ever live happily ever after on this island.
She sighed and released her foot. That was all she really wanted to do. Live happily ever after. She could even deal without the ever. To just live happily with her husband would be the best gift in the world.
It was because Mel wanted it so much that she knew it couldn't happen. She'd been denied since she came here. Everything good that had happened to her; her and Ben falling in love, her children, finding Ethan again, had been ripped away from her. And she loved Christian more than anything. She felt more for him than she ever had for Ben or Ethan. Which is why she felt a horrible foreboading. Mel could tell the bad times weren't over. Something horrible was bound to come.
She finally made it to the door and yanked it open.
"What is so important?" she said.
Mel looked down and her breathe caught. She grabbed the door frame to steady herself.
"Oh my God." she whispered.
