This is Ben's pissed face. I think it means Ben is really, really pissed at something one of his two traveling companions has said. And given the fact that he recently pumped a bullet into the gut of one of said traveling companions, I'd pick that one for having said the unkind remark. In other words, Locke is kicking a dog when it is pathetically down. Unwise as unkind given how little he knows. Any one else worried about what Ben said in the preview? That there were consequences of being the chosen one. Makes it sound like he got fired by Jacob and John got hired. If that happens it will break my heart. Someone at DarkUFO's was just commenting on how everything Ben loved had been taken from him-his mom, his wife and baby (probably), Juliet, his daughter and now his island. Every single thing he has loved, he has lost. When Ben said he was taking Locke to Jacob it seemed to me like Ben was resigned to giving up his role-his purpose-in life. With no Alex he didn't care. If Ben left the island in Locke's care (poor island) in 2004 after the O6 left, that would free him so he could time-jump to 2005 Tunisia and take up his new full time job-revenge against Widmore. And another comment in the preview definitely dates the Purge to: (click you know you really want to ) 1992 which really changes theories. Alex was 4 at the Purge when Ben "kidnapped" her. He never had her as an infant (no baby pics of Alex around). He never took her from Danielle as an infant. Did Dharma take Alex thinking she was a hostile and Ben raised her after the Purge? Was she the Goodspeed's adopted daughter? But was it "Uncle Ben" who read her books and gave her the attention she craved when her scientist parents didn't have the time? So when daddy disappeared and strange adults invaded her village and took over her home, Uncle Ben was the only person she recognized. Perhaps she wrapped her little body around Uncle Ben's leg and wouldn't let go when the women tried to take her from her home. So Ben told them he would parent Alex-she was sort of an instant family. Alex stayed in her own house and her own bedroom and in not too many months the old memory of her adopted father mixed with her new memories of Ben and Ben became the only daddy she had ever knew. (Did Ben want Goodspeed's house for a reason-he knew it held secrets?)
Hanso pulled funding on Dharma in the mid-eighties so who was financing them after that up to 1992? Perhaps Widmore? That was his poison gas factory and perhaps the hostiles and Ben did not like the kind of "research" Widmore had "the new Dharma" working on. So the lowly janitor took the whole thing from him. Perhaps Widmore was originally brought to the island in the "sub" sedated like Juliet so he never really knew where it was. He would have met Ben as a workman and treated him with even more disdain than he used with Desmond. Now who was funding the hostiles? Paik? Did Ben double cross him so no one owns the hostiles now? I'd feel terribly sorry for Ben but I had a really bad week and I'm feeling sorry for myself.
