As for the video cutting... isn't it difficult to find jobs for editing work? But must be a cool job once you have some orders XD And teaching art sounds pretty cool too.

But must be a cool job once you have some orders XD And teaching art sounds pretty cool too. Yes it is difficult especially where I live in Wales where for all media jobs you have to be bilingual, [and I am not]. It has taken a few years and the setting up of a media company in partnership to become established in editing. It started as a hobby in the days of video tape and then I gave up my job as a psychiatric nurse to get a degree in linguistics and media design..... I worked for a while for BBC Wales before taking further qualifications to become a teacher. The actual job of editing is easy enough but the editing suite can become become very intense and emotional when working with the fragile ego's of actors and megalomaniac directors I was forced to retire a few years ago due to disability and health issues, but am now back in the world of work part time and teaching a couple of days a week keeps me sane and active. I love teaching Art because the scope for creativity is endless and I get time to do my own stuff too! |

Hi Edith. Sophie could make a good living from video work. I teach Digital Video Design and most of my students are nowhere near as sharp in visual analysis as Sophie [stop blushing Soph!]. I set some of my students a project using clips from Lost but only one team brought in anything near as good as those she has produced and they work in 4 person teams with a whole month allowed. Exactly, she makes these great videos within days, some just take hours. I've been telling her to take the plunge. DO IT SOPH!! u could go far ;D and who knows where it could take you, imagine editing Lost!! ;D |
