I was a bit shocked when I saw Ben beating up Sawyer.. I guess that's because he always keeps his calm and cold demeanour and that act was kind of out of the character.. BUT I was VERY GLAD he did!! If I were in Ben's shoes I would do the same! Hell, If there wasn't a screen between me and James, I probably would have done it actually! I like Sawyer as a character, but he really gets on my nerves..

shaking the bunny.
I don't like Sawyer so Ben beating him up was great. (well, not like I like to see people get beat up lol, but I like the bunny more than Sawyer)

I was more shocked by Ben shaking the bunny, because the poor animal was so helpless. Sawyer was able to fight back and besides he wanted Ben to get an electric shock so he deserved getting beaten up.

Ben " SOMEONE is gonna die today!!!" Everyone silent and looks nervous. Ben "Annddd....it's either gonna be..." points to Sawyer. "YOU.....or this poor little bunny." Ben walks with his hands behind his back and looks at everyone. "Well, who's it gonna be?" Everyone looks at each other, then looks at Ben and says in unison, "Sawyer!" Sawyer "*bleep*!!!" Ha,haha!!!! ;D

I think the bunny shaking was crueler, but beating up Sawyer was more shocking.

I think the bunny shaking was crueler, but beating up Sawyer was more shocking. Even Michael Emerson had a hard time with that scene. I didn't hear him complaining about beating up Sawyer. LOL

I don't think there was any cruelity involved. About the bunny. Remember Ben had given the bunny a sedative. It was probably unaware of its surroundings. From the way Ben was shaking that cage Bunny should have been thrown from one side to the another. Instead Number 8 just kind of sat there and jiggled a bit. The earthquake a few months earlier would have thrown Mr. Bun around more. Someone on another board posted that bunnies will let loose about a hundred fecal pellets if really scared. Pellets would have rolled out of the cage and all over Sawyer. So to me lack of pellets = untraumatized sleepy bunny (but hey-I'm no bunny expert). It was a lab bunny not a pet. Hate to think what experiment awaited Number 8 when Ben returned him to the lab That might have been the only cruelty in this whole scenario. Now Sawyer. I loved the way Ben went in personally to get him. And that retractable baton-how cool was that? The way Ben confidently snapped it open like he had done it hundreds of times before. With just a few movements he had Sawyer on his knees. Another and he had Sawyer on the ground. Then that knock out kick! Ben never once lost his composure. You couldn't call it a fight. He was simply moving Sawyer from one place to another. That was the first indication I had that Ben was as strong as Goodwin and Ethan. I don't consider this cruelty because there was no malice or spite involved. Ben wanted Sawyer to accept his imprisonment so he wouldn't get hurt. He did it to earn Sawyer's respect just as Ben was earning Jack's respect. Why was Ben so experienced in using that baton and why did I find it so erotic?

xDDDDD I never thought about it like that! I sometimes think that the others are not that strong, and that if juliet could hit Jack and Ben Sawyer so "easily" was because they had drugged them, made them work, and they were very tired. On the other hand, the way Ethan moved when fighting with Jack was... strange. So I don't know...

Michael Emerson revealed in a recent podcast that he was told that the climb to the top of the "Alcatraz" island was easy for Ben, but difficult for Sawyer. Hence, there was the hint that Ben is much stronger than Sawyer. Pickett made mince pie out of Sawyer, etc.

Yet not all of them are strong and I can't figure out what determines who has this strength and who doesn't. Sawyer was easily able to take on several of them at the dig site. At first I thought there might be a caste system of some sort with the leaders being stronger. But the security guards are strong too so now I don't know. Juliet was not born on the island like Ben and yet she is stong. Can't tell about Alex -she was born on the island too. And what's with all the security guards? Why would they need that armory in the underwater tank near Ben's monitors? Why the constant guards? At Colleen's funeral I got the impression that Ben would have had that armed escort even if Jack had not been there. It was also obvious at the funeral that Juliet did not have equal status with Ben as she claimed. Everyone waited for Ben and the little circle opened when he came plodding along (is Michael kind of bowlegged?) and then closed right up. It was kind of eerie. Juliet was late and no one paid her any attention. Is Ben like a priest of some sort? Does he perform marriages too I wonder? There are those white cult like outfits. I think it's funny how Michael keeps hoping Ben is a good guy. I'm not too sure I care at this point. I'd cross over to the dark side to be with Ben. I think Ben with his baton is hot.
