[1] Photographers are not always aware of whose pictures they take. [2] If you want to be an actress, you will find that parties and alcohol go hand in had. A number of the actors themselves have some kind of addiction problems anyway. Many actors are introverts and feel that they need some alcohol to relax and loosen up. I don't drink and I like to keep my head clear, as I like being in control. Oh; I like keeping a clear head, too. I used to drink a bit of wine because I wanted the supposed health benefits, but I didn't really like it much and didn't understand why everyone else seemed to enjoy alcohol, nor how they could drink a 12 oz. bottle or have a few drinks; It seemed very powerful to me because I'd only drink around 1/3 of a cup of wine and could feel it's effects: lightheaded, happy, not entirely clearheaded (loose coordination, where I'd feel as though if I didn't try to focus carefully and got caught up in feeling relaxed, I might accidently knock my glass over or bump into furniture.) I tried a rum drink, but I didn't like that much, either. I've stopped because I realized that I don't like the strong alcohol taste at all and that it's pointless for me to try to force myself to drink alcoholic beverages, to try and like them when I don't and would rather drink water. Yes, with some of the actor's alcohol addictions, I'd thought they would ban alcohol from all Hollywood parties. I'm an introvert, too, like some of them are, but I've discovered that I don't need to drink alcohol in order to feel relaxed and happy with people, that I naturally feel the same way when people talk to me and joke around. Now that I remember, there were a few times when I'd laugh a lot, sober, and my brother would joke around and say that I sounded as though I was drunk. ;D

SnivellusfriendI understand you and I agree with you. In my life I had the time, when I could not drink any alcohol (even beer!), but in all parties I felt myself cheerful and free with people. Sorry for offtop

And here I thought my profession (journalism) had the corner on the market for alcoholism. Certainly I know a lot of them who are recovering and I've known too many on their plummet to the bottom. Perhaps today it's not as much a part of the profession but back in the day, liquor was the grease that oiled the profession. That and smoking. That's changed. Thank goodness.
My problem is if I drink wine or any spirits, I'm as likely to fall asleep, likelier in fact, than I am to loosen up and get wild. LOL. I don't mind a good dinner wine, but just to sip and chat strikes me as boring and I'm past (way past) party games. I guess that makes me a bore at a party. Ha! It all depends on who you're with though, right?
Drinking and schmoozing are key to getting along in H-wood as it is anywhere else. I am sure there are those who don't drink but I'm also sure they show up at these events. If you're invited, you go unless you're in the advanced stages of death.
