I am not terribly keen on the Ben likeness either but keep in mind they are very, very rough drafts. The figures change quite a bit over time, and the sculptor will post many photos as he goes through different iterations. If you compare the very first Juliet photos with the more recent ones, you can see how she has changed quite a bit to resemble Elizabeth Mitchell more and more. A lot of people wait for the final pics to be posted before purchasing, so that's an option as well. Keep in mind also that the figures are shipped unpainted. You can either paint them yourself or have a friend do it, or there is someone on the board that has offered to paint for a small price as well. This project is pretty incredible, but it has been a very long waiting game just for Series 1. I'm so anxious to hold them in my hands!!!

To me so far it looks like a total stranger I emailed today asking about preordering. She said I can wait to see the pics as it progresses. Perhaps our Michael will pop out from what we have seen so far..........

I didn't know they didn't come painted either. I could do it myself, it's been a long time since doing 3d work though........

I don't want to paint them. They may not look that nice. Now I will have to pay for a professional to do them right. Had I known, I would not have paid for them in advance.

Do you have a friend that collects miniatures? You could probably hire someone from your local comic book or game store. I'm not painting my own either, I'll just botch it up horribly. My boyfriend has offered, and he's very artistic, and I trust him to do it right. If you want, Edith, you can see how mine turn out after painting and if you like them, and he's amenable, I could ask him to do yours as well!

Actually, I'm sorry Jo, I misread the email initially. They are HOPING to ship S1 this month. I think it's taking the piss now to be frank. I have had mine on order since February 2008. I can't see us having them before 2010, so that will be two years.
Not being funny, and I will admit I have no idea how long it takes to do these kinda things as I am in no way artistic myself, but I feel it's taking a long time. I am getting annoyed with the whole "it will be ready by....." chatter. If it is going to take two/ three years, I'd much rather have been informed about this from the beginning. Has anyone had any correspondance as to why it has taken this long? I'm guessing Ben is no where near the initial stages even, if the others have not yet been shipped.

Yes, it has been a string of broken promises. I paid for my shipping a year ago, and my figures well before that. The project leader is threatening to pull the plug on the whole project and demand refunds to everybody if the sculptor doesn't start shipping.
I am trying very hard to remain optimistic about this but I have serious doubts. I don't think he has done anything with the Ben figure yet, as everyone is hounding him for Juliet and Daniel. Plus, he has promised loads of extras that he has yet to show us photos of, let alone ship.
Dubious, yes. You can request a refund, but even THAT takes an extraordinarily long time. I'll let you know when I hear more. I check the message board a couple times a week to see what's happening.

Thanks for the info Jo.
I really don't want to pull out, as then there is no way I will ever get that Ben doll, especially after McFarlane bastards pulled the plug.
Has there been any apologies and explanation?
