I agree; I don't really like the promo pics because they're Photoshopped so much; I generally only like his clothing.

I wish I could find that video presentation on the New York Times that I saw a day or two ago. They talked to photo editors working on magazine shoots. These are photos of top models of the world, not ordinary looking folks. The editors each said every photo has been reworked at least five or six times: Make the face thinner, smooth out the skin, make the trunk of the body thinner, the muscles more defined, if they were working on a guy, make the legs longer on a woman. On and on they each took their turn on a photo until they had this idealized image. They would even rework the freckles on the face to make "ideal." Yet they were careful to make the photo look fresh and real.
They each said that they realized they were part in a organized sham, if you will, that was setting up everyday people, mostly young and impressionable, to reach a standard of beauty that is, in fact, impossible to attain without a lot highly skilled photo editors working photoshop to create an image of someone, who essentially doesn't exist. They started with a model who is already 15 to 20 pounds underweight but with great bones and structure and generally good complexion and then pushed it even farther.
So with less time and prolly less-experience photo editors, I guess we shouldn't be surprised to see such promo photos.
