OMG if this has been said please let me know. WHAT IF - Fake Locke got Ben to kill Jacob becasue the loophole was Ben becoming one w/ the island from being shot by Sayid. What if a person had to be "of the island" and that was how to kill him? ?? If this hasn't been stated, let me know, I planting a stake in the sand on this one!!!

Are we completely sure those hieroglyphs are Egyptian, cause they don't look that Egipt-ish to me... i mean, the first time i saw them in all the tapestry i thought they were, but then after watching the pic i'm not sure... I was thinking more along the lines that it was hieratic. It's sure doesn't look like the Greek writing between it. Not to me, at least. And whoa, lostali, that is a rad theory. I gotta think on that a bit.

It's definitely Egyptian in origin, but it does have a more Middle Kingdom look to it, combining tomb paintings with cursive hieroglyphs and perhaps even Middle Bronze Age Proto-Sinaitic alphabets (which ties in nicely with the Judeo-Christian angle). The sacred Ibis, the victorious archer standing over the prostrate enemy, etc. The image at the top is straight out of pharaohnic tomb art with the winged god Ra, sending beams of his love down upon pharaoh and a faithful and celebrating people. The center image depicts the people gathering grain and papyrus and the last seems to be a fleet of warships. How these images tie in with the Greek phrases is still a mystery. Perhaps the tapestry is the Island's version of the Rosetta Stone. Another thought that just struck me: what if the warships aren't that at all, but ships bringing the faithful, chosen ones to the Island? Thanks Mythic and PB for those links... i still can't make anything from them yet... but my brain is still working...
oh! another question: both Jacob and Loophole have blue or green eyes, then, who's eye is in the cabin when Hurley finds it??? Cause it is a brown eye...

Very cool. Love it. Dark UFO also posted a fan theory by someone named matt and I thought it was most interesting as well, which technically might belong in Season 6 spoilers, but it refers to the finale, so I'm sort of torn. If you think this post belongs there, feel free to move it or tell me to and I will. Who sez the hiatus has to be boring? Afterall Benry Rewind is just days away!!

I watch this again on Sunday and today i was talking with my sister and we just realise something we thought was important: when Jacob is dying he tells Loophole "They are coming"... those same words were said by ghost-Walt when he appeared before Shannon and Sayid in S2. He said "They are coming and they are close" in that backwards langague of his. In that time we thought that he was talking about the Tailies, but maybe he was talking about the same ones Jacob told Loophole that were coming...

VERY nice catch, and now I know I have hearing damage. I've had three surgeries to repair my eardrums and the whispers just go right past me. I can hear them but there is not a chance in H I can make out what they are. The only one was in Outlaws, when I hear "It'll come back around," which is what Duckett said to Sawyer when he realized that Sawyer had been owned by Hibbs into killing for him by telling him Duckett was the man who conned Sawyer's dad. That was it.
Nice detail, Nuala

That was the only whisper that was intentionally clear- the rest needed translation, which some Lost fans actually know how to do.

Thanks guys!
yeah, we didn't catch what Walt was saying till the 4th time we saw that eppie and we had to slow motion the DVD and rewindin it, so we can read Walt lips. My sister worked with deaf children and she can read lips pretty well...

As I prepare to self-publish my second Lost book, I think of the cover for my first one and I think that I accidentally saw the future. My cover had the coffin lying on the beach, with the smoke monster hovering over it. Considering what happened in this episode, and all the theories we have about "Loophole" using the smoke monster as part of his plans- that cover image of the monster hovering over Locke's coffin could have very well been me glimpsing the future a year early. Perhaps Desmond transferred some of his flashing powers to me when I wasn't looking, and that allowed me to see the monster paving the way for the nemesis to take Locke's form after the coffin arrived.
