If you have not seen it yet, log onto itunes and look up celebrity playlists... Michael talks about 12 songs he has on his ipod. He's got some good tunes on there.

You're welcome. I love that he loves Portishead and Trip-hop in addition to Jazz and Blues. Yummy, yummy music.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trip-hopI first discovered it several years ago thanks to CSI. They've used several Trip-hop songs in the episodes, like Portishead's "Glory Box," Kosheen's "Wish," and Cinephile's, "What Becomes of Us." Portishead's "Numb" used in the David La Chapelle Lost Promo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XBtWYBPTnsIt's one of my um. . ."seduction". . .types of music. Used to fairly good effect. LOL

I did listen to one of Portishead's CDs. The vocalist's voice didn't appeal to me; She sounded too girlish. I felt as though she was trying very, very hard to make me like her by trying to act/sound like a "young, sexy" teenager. I like female singers whose voices sound mature.

You'd probably like one of my other "seduction" collections that include Etta James, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Susan Tedeschi, India.Arie, and Anggun. I did pick up a new favorite from Michael's list that I'd not heard before; Amy Carreia. I ordered "Carnival Love" yesterday. I'm just sorry it doesn't have the song "59th Street" on it. That's my favorite of hers so far. I keep forgetting to post this link from Blender.com where Michael talks about his taste in music. It's a nice interview: www.blender.com/guide/my-music/68568/michael-emerson-147ive-always-liked-playing-ambiguity148.htmlLove that song, but the Korn cover is the ultimate rock out.

Whoa. I've been so buy buying iPhone apps. I had forgotten all about the celebrity playlists. They're sort of like the celebrity reading lists. Sometimes you just don't want to know. I HATE "The Israelites."

Mythic! I'm so with you there. I feel the same way about "Jockey Full of Bourbon." Tom Waits has done some brilliant songs, but that isn't really one of them. I gotta say, if I had to post a list of songs I knew the entire world could see, I'd really think before I posted anything potentially wretched and embarrassing. I just found a couple of groups Michael would probably love since he gravitates toward that downbeat, Trip-hop eclectic sound. The first one is Lovage. They seem to have put out only 1 album that is now ridiculously expensive and hard to come by, "Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By." The other group is Elysian Fields. I found them because their lead singer did some tracks on that Lovage album. Both have that hypnotic sensuality to them. Here are a couple of their songs from my Blip.fm ChannelLovage - Book of the MonthElysian Fields - Fountains on Fire
