The writers just amaze me. I love how the mystery of the show is just fed and kept by all.

Indeed. Blank spots in the scripts. "You guys really have some trust issues." LOL

I had thought that the shot of Jacob actually falling into the pit was incredibly fake, since if you pause it, it looked like it was a mannequin or big doll falling in. So of course it had to be a real guy burning up.

I thought the same thing! I didn't think that they'd really put a guy on fire: I thought it was an illusion, a trick with the camera, using perception and depth of field.

It really was a stuntman. According to Michael during his interview on the CNI 200th Podcast, it was the most frightening thing he'd ever seen in his career. And of course they had to do more than one take! Holy crap. Glad "being set on fire multiple times" is NOT on my resume!

I presume the stuntman had to have some sort of transparent protective substance over him. 'Else the authorities would be onto ABC like Kate onto Sawyer (sorry, I'm crap at comparisons ^_^)

Michael described the fact that once he was on fire he had no means of communication except through gestures. It does sound like a very scary situation. And there were a lot of people around ready to act if something went wrong. That's wild. What people will do for art.
