Moises Kaufman mentioned that he wanted to work with Michael, again. Start preparing for trips to NYC, now. ;D at the 41:38 minute mark americantheatrewing.org/wit/detail/directors_05_09I'm impressed that Moises Kaufman gathers a lot of non-fiction material, reads it, and writes plays from them; That is a lot of work and dedication. I also like that he asks for actor's input at auditions, what they think about the character they're auditioning for; I wish all directors did that.

Was Kaufman also the force behind that eclectic Hamlet Michael and the wife were in? The one where he plays Claudius, the Ghost and Osric? I can't remember. If not, make that two directors I'd love to see Michael work with again. He transcends even his best performances with a genius director at the helm. Thanks for posting this!

You're both welcome! I just happened to be on the site, listening to the podcast because I was curious to hear the directors talk about their jobs. I didn't expect Moises Kaufman to mention Michael at all, least of all that he wanted to work with him, again. That surprised me! No, that was a different director: Daniel Fish. www.talkinbroadway.com/regional/nj/nj97.html

OOoh, thanks for that link, snivellusfriend! I love reinterpretations of Shakespeare classics, and Hamlet is my all-time favorite. I would so love to see this revived and taken on the road.

Thanks for the link, snivellusfriend! I don't remember seeing this article before. I do so melt into a puddle when he talks theater. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Richard III either. Wow! Ever since Ian McKellen did the WWII Noir film version of it several years back, I've seen the play with new eyes. Could you imagine? Michael using the same technique McKellen did in the morgue scene with Lady Anne, of using his mouth to take the ring from his good hand before slipping it onto her finger. "Was ever a woman in this manner wooed? Was ever a woman in this manner won? I'll keep her. . .but not for long."
