Ali, it seems that he is...... but I can`t be sure. I hope, he is not.......... Ok... I know, I shouldn't come in here if I haven't watched it yet, but pleeeeease put things like this under a spoiler tag, because it's quite obvious you're talking about some male character's death, which I know is not surprising when the episode is called "What they died for", but when I read this I just HAD to read the spoiler in the post above to see if you were talking about Ben, and now I know Richard dies in the ep! I guess I'll stay away until I've seen it to avoid temptation ;D

Nestor has said that he got the finale script, but chose not to get any details about the secret 11'th and final act. So if that's the case, Richard must be in the finale in some capacity - and I doubt it would be just as the latest dead character to make a sideways cameo.

Smokey! I am so sorry! I didn`t notice that I hadn`t put my words into spoiler tags! ((( Nooooo don't be! It's ok, really! By the way now that I've seen the episode I'm not even that worried about it. Best episode of the season. THIS. Really, I loved it! It was almost a Ben-centric ep! I wasn't expecting that And of course I wasn't expecting the "romance" because I hadn't read any spoilers. That kind of love-at-first-sight scene was awkward, but I... don't dislike the idea, after all we only know Danielle as the crazy frenchwoman, at least now we know she doesn't live in a hole somewhere in the alt universe ;D But mostly I was just happy to see Dr Linus happy (and went aawwwww at his reaction when Danielle said he was the closest thing to a father Alex had ) Plus the "parallels" with the other reality are always great... I loved it when Danielle said Ben was coming for dinner even if she had to kidnap him But the best part was on the island! BEN IS BACK! I'm positive he has a plan (sort of...) Flocke telling him he was going to give him the island and then that he's going to blow it up was not the smartest move, but I guess it's because he's not worried and doesn't see Ben as a threat. Too confident, I say... and he knows Ben never ceases to amaze us ;D Anyway I don't think Richard is dead. I saw that as a "get out of my way, you useless ageless little man" but I'm quite sure he's alive and that we'll see what happened to him.

Wow. Great episode. These flash sideways' are an excellent way of seeing characters having different relationships with eachother, for example Rousseau hating Ben, shooting him, in 'One of Them' and now really liking him. I LOVED when Desmond was brought into the holding cell with Sayid and Kate. I thought that was really well done. Bring on the Finale ;D

Another reason why Ben's alliance with the monster has to be a ploy, is that it would be hypocritical if it wasn't. The entire fireside chat showed how redemption and finding one's self is the central theme of the whole show, and the reason why Jacob sought the candidates out. What better way to show the power of redemption and rebirth than to have Ben, of all people, make a final redemptive scheme? Otherwise, it would undercut the entire theme of how anyone can change and rediscover themselves - which is why Jacob, and not his brother and mother, were right about humanity. Even Widmore claimed to be redeemed when Jacob visited him - so why do that for Ben's arch-nemesis and not for Ben himself? If they don't, then that really is a blow to what is now the central point of these entire six years.

WOW!!! this ep was FANTASTIC!! YAY!! Ben is back and he's got a plan. Dr Linus and Danielle sooooo sweet, wow I noticed the bad job they did at covering up his black eye, it was really noticable. Richard can't be dead surely....Can Richard even die? ? Ben's lines kill me I love it. I hope that's not the last we see of Jacob....So Jack is the next Jacob Does he even know what the hell he's supposed to do. BAD BOY BEN IS BACK!! Bring on the Finale!! ;D

Yeah, I agree, caz the makeup didn't cover up the shiner, but I kind of like that personally, because I got to see what it was. Looked like a simple blood vessel burst, which seems to indicate to me that it wasn't has serious as it could have been. No ocular tissue damage, no concussion. So that's good.
I was not satisfied with the way Richard was dispatched. It was all too blasé. That makes me suspect it wasn't really a death per se. Or that now that he has served his role in explaining some of the mystery of island, he can be swept off to make room for more of the core story.
It was a great episode; jam-packed and fast-paced. But I have a hunch, even at 2½ hours, the finale will seem a bit rushed.

Anyway...aww...poor Michael This season could have been so much better with more Michael, and more Michael and Terry interaction, in it. Terry is at his best when he has a scene with Michael, Lost itself is at his best, when he's on screen. How perfect he is when he shoots Widmore?...The look in his eyes, the sound of his voice, the way he leans his head on the wall...so intense, so perfect. Scenes like this are the main reason I watch Lost, not the CGI, the Triangle, the Jacob's mumbojumbo stuff, the bazillion answers we'll never get. Scenes like the Ben - Widmore convo in TSOTTC, the Ben's speech to Jacob in The Incident, and every Ben - Locke scene since Henry Gale's days... these scenes are my payoff, and an awesome one. They are so above average TV, so above the medium itself, they are as magical as great theatre is. I watch them silently holding my breath, and when they are over, I wish the actors could hear my applause.

This completely summed up my feelings about this episode... I think we think alike ;D And I think Dharmina completely summed up how many of us feel about Michael's (and Terry's) part on Lost About the not-so-well-covered black eye... Guys, you don't understand! It's not a mistake from the make-up department... it's like Sun forgetting how to speak English... or Jack's cut... it's a subtle hint that the two realities are merging! Ok, not really, but they could say it was ;D EDIT--I think it is safe to remove the spoiler tag. We are ALL about to watch the final episode in a few hours. I suggest that by Tuesday, we will not need to use spoiler tags at all.

Finally able to write again. The episode was great, I was surprised that Ben would team up with Flocke again, but I think, it's a con. It was really great to see Mira Furlan again, I missed her on the show (I like her since Delenn in Babylon 5) - and it was very sweet tos ee, how Danielle and Ben are coming closer (and I hate shippings normally) . And I don't think, that Richard is dead - that would be the crappiest dead scene in the whole show. I can't wait for the finale episode. Didn't see it yet.
