I sent him a note, but I'm not expecting a reply. I just wanted to thank him for his reply and although I know Edith put together something to address his comments about the chat boards being annoying/discouraging it really made me feel a little sad! So I included a few words about that. I basically just said that I read a lot of message boards, but I'd never seen anything hurtful/negative about him.
"Instead I have read posts that comment on your intelligence, humor and kindness. They talk about your extraordinary acting skills – even if they don’t like the character. They talk about your beautiful eyes and expressive facial features. They admire your voice and the masterful way you bring life to a character with inflection and delivery. People discuss the depth of reactions that your character evokes and about the ambiguity he brings to the boundary of good and evil. I have even read an entire discussion devoted to the cuteness of your backside!
I just want you to know that there are a *lot* of people out there talking about how much they respect and admire you both professionally and personally and that you shouldn’t let “just one” negative post or even the idea of one color your judgment of the Internet fanbase. "

I wish I could be there to see his reaction when he reads the part about fans reaction to his....you know. I wonder if he gets any fangirly reactions to his body parts from people other than the ones around here.
