We've added some new features to the board. Here is a description of them and how they work. If you have any trouble figuring them out or they are not working properly, don't hesitate to ask for help.
And feel free to test the features out in this post or on the Off Topic board!
The most important new feature is the spoiler feature. Please get acquainted with it and start using it whenever you're posting a spoiler (information about an episode before it airs)! The other features are optional...use 'em if you want 'em.
New Features
*Spoiler tag
*Drop-down smilies
*Clickable banner
*Random banner
*Wikilinks
1. Spoiler tags can be used when you want to reveal a potential spoiler. If someone doesn't want to read the spoiler, they simply don't click the button that makes it appear. You can see an example below:
To use this feature, simply put the spoiler between tags [spoiler] like this [/spoiler]. There is an icon when you're replying to/creating a thread which will write out the tags for you. This picture (click) should help you find the button if you're having trouble.
2. Drop-down smilies are next to the box where you type your message when you're replying to/creating a thread. You can browse through them one at a time, or view them all at once. When you find a smilie you want to use, just click on it.
3. The banner at the top of the board is now clickable. If you click it, it will take you back to the main board page.
4. The banner at the top of the board will change when you refresh the page.
5. Wikilinks make it so you can link to an entry on [[Wikipedia]] by putting brackets around a word. For example, writing [[elephant]] will look like this when you post: [[elephant]].
There is also a button for this (a large "W") right next to the spoiler tag button.
Wikilinks here work just like they do on Wikipedia. The above example is a simple one. For anyone who's more familiar with Wikipedia, I want to mention that you can also use piped links—the article name and the link text are separated by a line like this: |. For example, if I wanted the link to bring you straight to the Wishmaster article, I could write [[Wishmaster (film)|Wishmaster]] and it would show up on the page like this: [[Wishmaster (film)|Wishmaster]].
