Jigsaw, a.k.a Zep's boss, has a lot of catchphrases in his long and bloody career, like "Live or die, make your choice", "Let the game begin" and "Oh yes....there will be blood" The end of that last phrase is no longer exclusive to Jigsaw, though. Now it may soon be a phrase attached to the Oscars- but not because the Saw series is now the Academy's cup of tea. "There Will Be Blood" is the title of a new epic from director P.T Anderson[Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love]starring Daniel Day Lewis as an early 20'th century oil man out to strike it rich, then slowly going mad and evil[or eviler?]as he tries to drill in a small town and winds up squaring off with a young preacher[Little Miss Sunshine's Paul Dano]as the elements of big oil, big religion, and big capitalism come together. Criticial responses to the movie are almost unbelievably overboard in their praise, especially for Daniel Day-Lewis- even though they warn it is incredibly bleak, not for popcorn audiences, has no silver lining or any redeemable characters, and the end is really really over the top[even for a director who once had frogs fall from the sky] But awards talk is still buzzing all around it- so if it goes on to win at the Oscars[assuming the strike doesn't wreck it], you can do some free association and imagine that Jigsaw[and of course Zep]had some influence on the Academy.

The movie sounds quite interesting (reminds me ever so slightly of Dallas LOL) so I may watch it particularly if it becomes a big hit (Orange Wednesdays LOL)
Yay for Zep and Jiggy still having an impact ROFL

Daniel Day Lewis....that's all you needed to say...I'm there. He takes his rolls and his roles very seriously and immerses himself in them. A fine actor! Yes the film does sound bleak, then again, I've always been a sucker for bleak, depressing flicks. Shadowlands is in my top 10 fav films... Interesting how Zep's words played out .
