The comment about "false intimacy" and his discomfort with all the attention has me worried.

There's always returning to the stage if it becomes too much...but I think he'll adapt okay, don't you? He seems like a very balanced guy. Plus he's got Carrie at his side.

You're right. I think he'll adapt just fine. I'm worried that he might think we're a bunch of deluded kooks for falling in love with his close-up on TV :-( P.S. Carrie looks great in that red tropical print dress :-)

Aw. Actors need fans who stick around. I'm sure he appreciates all of us. I think most actors feel like it's a little odd to have total strangers come up to you and relate to you, talk to you, as though they know you personally. I know William Mapother (Evil Ethan on Lost) has commented about that before. That doesn't mean he thinks fans are nuts...it's just something people don't have any experience with until they're famous.

Snipped from the article:
Despite his success on the stage, Emerson said that theater life can be brutal, especially when "all of the juicy roles" go to television and movie actors. "If that's the system," he recalled thinking, "I'll go out west and get on TV so that I can do some dang Shakespeare in New York City."
Ok, besides the fact that he said "dang" and that is so dang cute, I'm thanking gods that I live 10 minutes outside NYC!!

As I envy Emerson's fans from the United States! You can see him alive in any performance or show! A we in Russia so it is far from him!

It seems to me, all the same Emerson will play more cinema and on TV. He will have deep and remembered roles. He understands huge power of TV. There in fact not only popularity, but also... Money. It too matters in a life. I very much would like to see him on the stage, and at cinema I would like to see him in a love drama or a comedy.
Photo is very cool! Mr. Emerson looks very young and charming. It is visible, that he is very friendly.

Amidala, admit it: we are all a little crazy - but I´m sure he´ll get a bit more used to having fans who appreciate his acting skills (and his looks - and even if he feels a bit uncomfortable about that which I can totally understand, he´ll be flattered too . So - let´s keep up being (crazy) loving fans ... and one day we should meet to watch a play in NY (hey, it´s only a five hour flight from here)

galadriel, haha....oh, I'll be the first to admit that I'm bat sh*t nuts and that my obsession with Michael has some deep psychological underpinnings, but I don't want him to THINK that about me......lol.
Yeah, he'll be flattered and cautious and gracious around his fans. He is a gentleman after all.
I think a NY get together, like a mini Michael convention, is in order the next time he's trodding the boards! Great suggestion!

Can anyone get me a copy of the Honolulu Star Bulletin with this interview in? I NEED a copy of the picture! We need a calendar at work but can't decide on one so we've decided to make our own, with pics of our favourite actors, bands etc. Obviously I want Michael on there (to cheer me up on Monday mornings!) but all I've got are pics of him as Benry and the others (that's the other members of my team, not The Others!) think he's too scarey! Can anyone help me out?

I think most actors understand the difference between a fan crush and someone thinking they are really in love with someone. Of course you always get the odd stalker with an obsession but they are rare. Unfortunately, my husband won't let me stalk M.E. . And it's probably poor form to stalk someone other than your husband especially when you've been married for 24 years. Loved the bit about the hair being too fashionable for the character. Like anything could be fashionable on that beat up face. And now poor Ben has a torn kidney sack to worry about! I can just see him when he's recovered from the surgery. "Thanks Jack, my back feels really good but for some reason I have to pee all the time."
