Ack, I can't find the link anymore, but has anyone seen the site that transcribes the "whispers" that are sometimes heard in the jungle during especially dramatic scenes? Remember the whispers? They were mostly a Season 1 thing, like when Sayid was caught in Rousseau's net or when Sawyer was hunting the boar, but apparently they were there during most of the Henry-Jack-Sayid scenes, too, and they've been transcribed.
[Possible spoilers for people who don't want to know what the whispers say...]
It seemed to be the Others talking, and the gist of pretty much all the whispers was "should we bother trying to get him back, or is he screwed? Yeah, he's screwed, let's leave him and pick a new leader--no, wait, it looks like he might be able to worm out of it--nah, they're going to kill him; we can't save him, so let's not try." One of the specific whispers transcribed during one of the torture scenes, repeated over and over, was "He screwed it up, he's fucked it up, he's fucked it up." Another consistently repeated one was "That guy is stupid. I wouldn't ever let them beat me."
I think the most interesting transcribed whispers were the ones from the very first interrogation, when he's explaining the balloon story to Sayid. The whispers are coaching him, giving him very specific directions on what to say, like giving him the exact dimensions of the balloon and stuff, and the main repeated whisper is "We're going to get you out of this. Stay calm. We're going to help you."
I'm not sure how seriously to take the transcriptions, since the whispers are so very hard to hear, especially during Henry's scenes (because Sayid is so damn loud all the time, heh.) But if they are accurate...what does that say about Henry's leadership? The Others seemed to really be deferring to him and respecting his authority in the finale, but the whispers seem to suggest that they don't take him all that seriously as a leader.
I think he's probably competing with Miss Klugh for authority. She made the decision to let Michael and Walt go free without him, and Henry said himself that he wasn't happy with the decision but couldn't do anything about it, so he had to let them go.
Just some food for thought while we wait for Season Three.
