Hi everyone, what a great site this is - both the subject and the posters. This is my first post - I've been "watching from afar" from a while (hmmm I wonder what the Prefiler would make of this). "Discovered" Michael Emerson on Lost - though I was fascinated by the incredible quality of acting from the start, I didn't start feeling butterflies until "The man from Tallahassee". Since then I've acquired a healthy new obsession of trying to watch everything he's in. A few times. Actually, quite a lot of times. It is such a relief to see acting this spectacular on the telly - how come this guy didn't shoot to the top until now??!

The groundwork for his "shooting up" was laid years ago when he won the Emmy for the Practice- he got a steady string of guest starring TV roles after that, appeared in "Saw" as well- and then it was Lost that shot him up to fame. Have you heard the story that he was only supposed to be on for three episodes, but the producers loved Michael so much they kept writing more and more for him till he became the iconic figure he is now? So by that little accident and people recognizing his work for several years, he got to the top- refreshing 'rise to fame' story in these times, huh? Anyway, welcome to your new home for Michael worshippers.

Thanks bobdoc! You're right, it is a refreshing story - an actor without "classic" Brad Pitt-style looks who at age 52 becomes universally admired on the power of his skill. There is hope for the world yet.

Hi guys, thanks so much for the lovely warm welcome! Ehm...yeah, that avatar...so...ah...subtle. A mystery to rival the identity of Jacob, surely...

Hello. I kind of talked about this in my 'get to know me' post. But, anyway, I will repeat myself. I first saw Michael on "Law & Order: SVU." I am also a big follower of this show. I am the type of person who gets really into the guest stars. Even though they may appear in one or two episodes, I enjoy their presence. I love the stars Mariska and Christopher, don't get me wrong--but I find the guest appearances very poignant. It was disturbing to see Michael as a pediphile and murderer, but I thought his performance was very convincing. I really wanted to see more of him because I thought he was very talented and interesting. I also saw him on another show I enjoy, "Without a Trace." I really began thinking that this man was one of the most talented in the industry. I didn't see him much until I saw "SAW." I am a horror buff and I wanted to see this in theaters because I heard it really re-defined horror of this generation. And it did in my opinion. But that's not important right now, but I was pleased to see Michael in it! I thought his performance (again) was fantastic. So, ever since then I was a fan. The rest is history. I am so glad he got his role on "LOST" and had increasing popularity--he deserves it and I am glad so many recognize his talent!!

Lost...I am massive Lost fan, and was really interested in the episodes in which Henry Gale was captured by the Losties, and in particular Gale's strange interest in Locke, but I never paid much attention to Henry Gale apart from him being another mystery in what was going on with Locke, he just didn't interest in me in the slightest. As series three developed and he emerged as the Other's second in charge (the invisible Jacob being the leader), I found him more and more facinating. I don't find him particular attractive but he is sexy in an uncoventional way.

Hey cato welcome to the fanboard!
I first noticed michael in lost. Then i watched some of the movies he has been in. He has worked hard to get where he is now and he deserves all the praise he gets.
