Public Defender. You know, if you can't afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you... That's me. I have always appreciated PDs for their dedication to a criminal justice system that tries to ensure everyone have a fair day in court. I served on a jury in a criminal case once and I came away from the experience with a MUCH deeper appreciation for what the judge and the prosecuting and defense attorneys do (and for the role of the jury in a courtroom).

I have always appreciated PDs for their dedication to a criminal justice system that tries to ensure everyone have a fair day in court. Thanks for the kind words. Most people are fairly openly contemptuous of what I do (well, not good friends or family). The worst was when I was getting ready to bring my one-year-old home from a stay at the hospital. Needless to say, I ws exhausted, emotionally and physically. So there is a representative from a medical equipment company who is getting me set up with the breathing machine that I am taking home with me because she still isn't out of the woods. We are making small talk and it comes up what I do for a living. He shares his feelings, which include, "I don't understand how anybody could do that job," and basically wonders out loud how I can look myself in the mirror. I'm thinking, "In what universe is this an appropriate conversation?" I'm taking my sick baby home and he is expressing his unsolicited disapproval of my life's work. GRRRRR!!!! But as you can see, I'm over it. p.s. Baby recovered and is A-OK.

^ That's rude! It's a shame that such bad-mannered guys are walking around *is disgusted* And everyone has the right to be defended in court, they be innocent or guilty!? What the hell? *shakes head* I can't believe people can actually ignore basic rights like that. I mean, if someone is guilty he must be condemned, but it must be done LEGALLY, respecting each other! If we by-pass rights and laws once it will done again for sure. And we can't allow that, it' wouldn't be democracy anymore. Just my thought.

I'd rather not say, but suffice it to say that I'm a youngun. A teenager, if you wish to call it that - but then again, I never did relate to my so-called peers.
I could very well get a job, but I'm just too indolent and incompetent. Heh.

i wouldn't have guessed that. you definitely do not sound like a "teenager". Would it surprise you if I said that I get that a lot? ;D Well, I don't exactly have a job, but I do have obligations. I'm the piano accompanist for the school choir. Unpaid, and rightly so - I'm not a spectacular pianist at all, even though I've been playing all my life. Does tutoring pay well, I wonder?

LOL that's it. yeah, actually tutoring pays okay. i get 10.50 an hour. but i'm not doing it for the money. LOL Parents! LOL
