Hey.
I've been aware of MEFB for a while, I post at Henry Gale Lover's and Ben's Bookclub on LiveJournal and have seen Edith (aka Spicedogs) mention it.
I finally decided to join today when I saw that y'all everybody sent a birthday package to Michael. How cool is *that*? [Hint: very!]
I first saw Michael playing Oscar Wilde in Moises Kaufman's The Trials of Oscar Wilde here in Los Angeles. I had no idea who he was, and, I'll admit, my first thought was: "That guy is too short to play Oscar! Wilde was something like 6'3" or close to that!". Michael won me over with his awesome acting, however, and I've been a fan since.
Ben is my favorite character, by far, on my favorite TV show, so any chance to discuss him and the great actor who plays him, especially once the season starts, is a chance I can't pass up.

Welcome aboard. I still think you're incredibly lucky... I'd love to have seen his Oscar Wilde.

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful because Michael's not 6'3", not at all! I'd LOVE to see him on stage again, I'm so there when that happens.

Welcome! I'd have loved to have seen him in his plays; Too bad they're not on DVD.
You live in LA? Wow, you have a better chance of seeing him!

I wanted to keep my LJ name, I was pretty sure it wasn't taken (Henry Holland is a character played by the great Alec Guinness --Obi Wan-- in the wonderful English movie The Lavender Hill Mob)! ;D Thanks, it's a shame I don't do more with it; once baseball season is over, I might put more effort in to it. I'm mainly using it as a place for my Ben fics, which I hope people will read. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Yeah, Los Angeles is pretty cool--I've lived here since 1975, when my Dad retired from the Air Force and moved us here; he was born and raised in North Hollywood. Except for the traffic, it's not a bad place to live at all, as big cities go! It's no London or England, but still.....

Wow you got to see in "Gross Indecencies"? That's just better than cool. I esp. noted your comments regarding the height disparity. I think that's what I like most about Michael Emerson, how he's able to traverse seemingly insurmountable barriers with his acting. I mean, when I first saw himas Henry Gale, I thought, "OK, he looks totally like some nerd from Minnesota going on a hot-air ballooon trip. OK, this is going to be boring but at least Sayid's in the scene." (BTW, I'm from Minnesota, so fellow Mnsotans, you know what I mean.) Then he started doing his stuff, and my jaw just dropped, and it continues to drop on a fairly regular basis. Acting on that level is so rare to see.
And the fact that he seems to be in real life, a down-to-earth, friendly ordinary sort, just only makes it all that more incredible to me.
So welcome aboard, HenryHolland, this appears to be the right place for you.
