I'm giving Edith the competition on people here past 50. I'm 56. I do feel my age some days. I have advanced osteoarthritis. But that is really my only health problem. Getting around some days is very painful, others not so much. I always have to remind myself that being this old and only having arthritis is good. And really, I have a lot of control over how much pain I have. I look on the bright side: I don't have to take medication for blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma, allergies, and a host of other problems. I haven't had cancer or mental health issues. I've survived two major fires, one that included fatalities, a serious car accident.
So knock on wood and thank the Lord for my good fortune. Either that or apparently I don't die as easily. LOL! Actually, if you live long enough, you begin to acquire some of these "life experiences." You also acquire a lot of good ones, too.
It all has taught me that none of us have any guarantees. I lost a good friend when we were in our 20s. It hit hard because she was the one friend who I thought had the best potential for a good life. But it was not to be. So you just don't know. Each day is a gift. Even at my advanced age (LOL) I'm excited about life. Until you close your eyes for the last time, you just don't know what's next, and that's what keeps me interested. Sure, could be bad things, but it's as likely to be good. And that is largely up to us.

"advanced age" at 56? LOL!! You have a very youthful persona on this forum, Mythic. And I think that goes a long, long way!! Just the fact that you and I (I don't consider myself "advanced," but 30 is no 20!) actually get along with these young 'uns so well is, to me, a source of pride. And it's a testament to the type of personality that is drawn to Michael Emerson, no matter what age - I have thanked him in my letters for having such lively and considerate fans!

Yes, I am of the "adavanced" age category and then so is Michael. I will be 60 this year, but except when I listen to some of my aches and pains, I feel like I am in my 30s.
When I was 34, someone in my office celebrated her 61st birthday. I asked her (I was rude) whether it bothered her being that old. She told me no, because the alternative was not as pleasant. I paid attention to her reply. It is true. You can either get old or die young. I'd rather be old. Then again, you are only as old as you feel.
On the funnier note, while we were in the emergency room with my mother, one of the nurses asked me whether Brian (hubby) was my dad. I got a kick out of that one. He is older than I am, but not by that much. He will turn 67 this February. LOL

I'm 23... and there were times when i felt old... cause you know, finishing a career and starting to work and all, i was in the "adult" world now, and that scared the hell out of me, dunno why... As Edith said, maybe i was afraid of loosing my "beauty" and youngness, but then i met a friend whos' gonna be 31 this may and she's so nice, has lived her life very well and has so many experiences: she finished her career, started to work and now is a Junior CEO or something like that in the place she works, got married, and she's so beautiful! It is as if her natural beauty is mixed with her experience and all the thing she has lived.
So i want that too, a life i had enjoyed and lived gracefully and when i'm at the end of it, i want to feel i did everything i wanted to do and i can go peacefully...
but i cant go if i hadn't kissed Michaela nd bitten his chin! ;D

I will be 30 in August ... and everybody thinks that I am the babysitter of my daughter because I seems younger ... I don't know if it is really a compliment !!
