Medieval history. Although I'm a little wary of the city campus - the location seems to be the only drawback for me. Otherwise it's a very attractive program. Is the campus nice? I have never seen Fordham. The Bronx is an alien place to most of us who lived in Brooklyn. After all, consider the distance. I assume that it has a nice campus. The Bronx was more suburbanlike than Manhattan. I can enquire my friends about it.

Thanks for the lesson, Edith! I didn't know where Astoria was.
Great advice.

Here's my friend's description of Fordham and the area around it:
As far as I know Fordham has a great Grad school and its Rose Hill campus is the biggest campus in the Bronx. I'm not too well-versed in the grad program itself, but Fordham is pretty prestigious. I think it's considered part of the new second-tier of Ivy League schools. I know that they have two other campuses-- one in the city and one upstate. I know less about those campuses but they have their own vans that travel between the three campuses so it's easy to take courses at any one of them and not be concerned about how to get there.
By reputation it's not in the safest neighborhood but I pass through it often and it doesn't seem so scary. I don't know anyone who wasn't looking for trouble finding it either.
There's a lot of transportation nearby and at night there seems to be a lot of police on staff. But the walkways aren't as well lit as they should be past sunset.
Hopefully that helps a bit more. If there's anything else you need, let me know.
