Ah! I guess I could translate that when I get more than 5 minutes of free time stuck together... but honestly, it's a lot of talk for no new information... typically French  Hee hee hee... I'M JUST KIDDING  (lempriere, not about you, about the article... don't take it the wrong way) EDIT: (Honestly I hate how this author is writing) Teaser: 1st paragraph: The flash-forward from season 3 finale was great [wow... old news] 2nd paragraph: Honestly, I don't even understand what's the point of this one... and french is my first langage!!! 3rd paragraph: The 4th season is kind of intense. 4th paragraph: Ben is one of the main caracters of season 4 and reveals a little humanity... 5th paragraph: Little talk about Jacob, Bocke and Emerson's big eyes... 6th paragraph: Good VS Bad, useless talk  With so-so translations of those three "best quotes from ben" EP2: "Kaaaaaaaarl, if you want to sleep with my daughter, I insist you call me Ben" EP9: "I stole her as a baby from an insane woman! hehe i don't care raksha don't worry  me personally, I like his style and even though he does not say anything new, I find it overall a good review about the season. you know, technikart is rather an opinion magazine rather than an information one so I find it very normal that the author just writes his opinions about Michael and Lost in general. to add to your translations, he says: 1st paragraph: The Lost writers were very courageous because it is quite risky to give the plot such huge twists when the series in question is still quite mainstream. 2 paragraph: the authors created a purely theoretical cliffhanger at the end of season 3 because we were not even interested in what was going on now, at that moment, we were just dying to see what was promised us. 3rd paragraph: The narrative arch stayed stretched incredibly tight during the whole season and we watched the action scenes almost with a childish zeal. 4th paragraph: raksha said it all. 5th paragraph: The Ben & Locke duo have always given the series its most intense, most laughable, most violent etc moments and this season they were never ever apart. (about insect eyes, he says that Ben steals scenes from Locke with his insect eyes, even though O-Quinn is a great actor himself.) 6th paragraph: it is worth translating because i don't find it useless talk, i find it is rather well written: From its first moments on, Lost never ceased to inspire us about close links that unite fathers to their progeny(or offspring) always through a feeling of Christian guilt and a simplistic arrangement between good and bad. By transforming its dirty bureaucrat to wounded father and murderer, The ABC show finally messes up with the frontiers too neatly separated in order to lead us to summits that we follow without compass. Lost. |

Thanks for sharing this! What does 'Papa Flingueur' mean? Mmmmh, good question. Papa is the French word for dad, so that one is easy. Flingueur, I guess it means, that he uses guns often; since a "flingue" is a gun in French. So i would very roughly translate it to "shooting daddy"... lol lempriere will hopefully correct me if I'm wrong Edit: PS: While googling for "flingueur" just to be sure, I stumbled on a wikipedia page that tells us "Papa flingueur" is actually the french translation for the title of a Simpsons episode... I did not know the Simpsons connection, interesting! Well flingeur has several meanings that's why the author chose it I think, it's a wordplay. 1. Like raksha said, it designates a gunman, so first meaning "Gunman Daddy". 2. Someone without mercy. "Ruthless Daddy". 3. Somebody who is supa-dupa ultra cool. In French you can say this guy is a "flingueur" which means that the guy does everything right or he is mega great in what he does. All of the above suit our Ben |
