 Ok, Karl is in love with Alex, but I guess Ben dosent want her with him...Why? Is he being all "DONT YOU TOUCH MY LITTLE GIRL!"..Over-protective father or is it sumpthin' else? Karl seems really smart and other-like..sure he's a crybaby, but why would they reject him? Furthermore why would they want to kill him? and why would they wanna' brainwash him? The whole thing sorta reminds me of how Desmond is rejected.

It does add up like what happened to Desmond. My theory is that Ben caught them in the act and that crossed some line. But this is just my theory, probably to simple for the show.  |

yes Karl does seem like an outcast. i'm not sure why Ben doesn't want her with him. i think we need to watch more before we can make a guess. but it was strange when kate was asking him about why the took the children, Emma and Zach. and Karl says" we give them a better life than yours" also, would it be safe to assume that Karl has lived on the island all his life?...because he didn't know what the Brady Bunch was!  |

I think it could be a simple, emotional reason. The kind of 'boss's daughter' thing. Maybe it was Karl who started filling Alex's head with all sorts of, 'we're not the good guys' nonsense...he's a bad influence.

Wanting to kill him is too harsh for just catching them in the act. He did something really bad to upset Ben and the Others. |

Yeah I'd say Ben would be mad if he came home and caught his little girl on the couch with Karl but he wouldn't subject him to brainwashing for that. He must have shown subversive thoughts. Ideas not allowed by their little commune/cult/whatever and for that he was given a little corrective reprogramming. It's scary to think they might have had little Walt hooked up to those IVs in that room. Of course, Ben might be afraid that he might have to put Alex in that room next if he didn't put an end to their relationship. I felt so sorry for him in the operating room just after his "the cavalry has arrived" comment to Jack. He looks back to see if it is Alex and then seeing the look on her face he just thunks his forehead on the pillow as he realizes how he has blown their relationship.
I think Alex is like the Lost-a-ways. She only knows part of the situation and is making judgments based on that. If she knew all of it she might be very afraid and Ben is trying to spare her that fear. For example, I think she totally misunderstood what Ethan was going to do with Claire. He was going to do a C-section and take the baby but she thought Claire would die from the surgery.

I read somewhere that Karl has the same powers as Walt and that mean that if he got out of hand, he could be dangerous! So they put him in that room. I hope he finds a way to be with Alex
so that Ben won't object to their romance, especially if he's like the only guy her age!!!

Wait, Walt was hooked up to the IV and forced to watch the subliminal messages? My conjecture only not anything heard on the show. Remember last year when Ms Klugh threatened Walt with being put back in the room if he didn't behave? That room could be room 23. |

OK, Walt similarities is interesting, but I'm more inclined to go with the more conventional thought that Alex and Karl don't fit in the grander plan of Ben & Co. I've even thought that there might be some undisclosed thing, like maybe they're half-siblings but don't know it. I've seen that idea posted somewhere.
