I was watching Youtube, the Daily 10 clip with Michael's interview,..this is what I saw in the comments at the bottom of the page  Any one want to tell me who Rainer is? |

I think someone once claimed that the character of Mikhail Bakunin, aka Patchy, was really called Rainer. If you go to Lostpedia and search for "Rainer", you get redirected to Mikhail Bakunin's page. lostpedia.com/wiki/RainerSome Google pages also reference that... www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&q=lost+rainer+patchy&btnG=Google+SearchAs Pez has said before, ABC's press release for the upcoming episode called Enter 77 reveals that the character's real name is Mikhail Bakunin. The person on YouTube is just speculating. And hadn't yet seen the press release.  |

there are rumors that Patchy's name is Rainer. there are some rumors that say that Patchy's full name is Jacob Rainer! we'll have to wait and see if Patchy is THE JACOB!  |

Yes, if Patchy isn't Rainer, then is there even a character named Rainer? There doesn't seem to be any reason to believe so at this point. Except if they're going to pull another "Henry Gale" and Bakunin's real real name is Rainer. *shrugs* And dammit, Amanda, I'm all giddy waiting for Enter 77.  |

So...Mikhail was not Jacob....I shall await for the real one...if he/she is even alive
maybe jacob is just an icon, or a metaphore...like they use the Biblical Jacob as an idol or something
