Aside from Michael Emerson's performance, of course. It separates the wheat from the chaff, just like in the pictographs in Jacob's tapestry. I found this on the NPR's Monkey See blog by Linda Holmes. It goes a long way in explaining and justifying "Lost's" loss of about half its viewers over time. As I've said elsewhere, suits me.
