The Emmy nominated actors had until Tuesday to pick a tape to submit for consideration. Michael's obvious choice had to be "Dead Is Dead" since he's in all but two scenes in the entire episode, if I remember right. I heard a few people predict that he might want to submit "Jeremy Bentham" or "The Incident" due to his big scenes in those episodes, though he has far less screen time. But Michael went the safe route and officially submitted the Bocke-dominated, smoke monster manipulating, child sparing "Dead Is Dead" as his Emmy tape, according to Tom O'Neil from The Envelope. Now, it is up to the Emmy voters to avoid quibbling over the wigs, special effects and such, and do what must be done. hooooray!!! ;D ;D ;D I'm going to watch it again tonight in celebration! The Emmy voters know that they are considering only Michael's acting, so I don't really think the mediocre special effects will be detrimental to his chances. At least, I hope and pray that they don't.  |

At epi "Jeremy Bentham" Michael played magnificently divinely   At "Dead is Dead".... hmmm... I think, Michael can act better  IMHO |

I think his best acting was actually 'The Incident,' in the scenes with Locke and the final scene with Jacob - apart from the lame Norman Bates-style stabbing. 'Bentham' was outstanding as well. I wish we could mash them all together and submit that!  |

Dead is Dead is pretty intense, except for the silly smoke and images of Alex (like Tilgerlily said "mediocre special effects"). I don't know about you guys but I did have to restrain myself from shedding a tear of sadness/pitty when Alex showed up  I think Terry was amazing in the Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham, I don't see how Michael could be nominated for that episode, he was great but Terry stole the whole thing. I just hope he wins this time!!! ** crossing fingers ** |

It would have been a little harder for Michael to win by submitting "Bentham" or "The Incident" since he only has one big scene in both. Leaving aside the caliber of those scenes, it's pretty hard to win these awards with only one extended scene on your tape and not much else. It happens sometimes at the Oscars, but I don't think it happens too much at the Emmys. Since Michael is in pretty much every single scene in DID, he has more of an extended showcase.
Having most of those scenes with Terry can't hurt either- though if Terry actually submitted himself, got in for "Bentham" and gotten an extra boost from all his scenes on Michael's tape, it would have made things a lot harder for Michael this year.

I wonder if Terry intentionally chose to take a backseat to Michael this year to help his friend's chances? If so, I admire him tremendously for it!!

Nah I don't think so, it's not like Michael needs any favors, I think Michael should have won last year, his performance was better than Terry's in S4, now it's backwards xD I actually think Terry was a bit better (at least in Bentham's) in S5 than Michael, or at least was a lot more around. Eitherway it's about time somebody give Michael an Emmy for playing the best villain in TV! |
