Today is Emmy day, in which Michael is the center of attention- at least around here. This is the official thread where we can post all our reactions, all the red carpet pictures, and all the celebrations or fits of rage we have after the Best Supporting Actor Drama winner is announced.

Yay!
I really do hope he gets it, although this years submission in my opinion was the weakest of the three I still hold out hope as it's much better than most in the same category. William Hurt is probably the only real threat

Hurt and Aaron Paul from "Breaking Bad" are pretty much the only actors other than Michael that critics picked in this category, so there are really about two main threats.

holy cow, that is a loooOOong time to wait for one category!!! Perhaps somebody who is online and watching it can give a shout out on the board when we are approaching his category? If they follow this line-up Bobdoc found, that is. Maybe when they reach original lyrics???
I really don't want to lose my entire evening to the Emmy's when I watch very little tv and don't even know most of the nominees, but at the same time I don't want to miss Michael's reacton when he WINS, baby!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm not sure if I'll be online that late, but if I am, I'll certainly lead the countdown. The wait is already nervewracking as it is without being this long, since my confidence in a Michael victory is on shakier ground than yours, at least.

I'll be watching ALL of it - but not sure if I can hop on-line in that time-frame. We'll see..................

Let's run through the competition one last time, and rank who the biggest threats are.
1. William Hurt, Damages: By far the least deserving winner, but he is a big name, who got to spar with likely Best Actress winner Glenn Close again, and he comes from Damages- the show where Zeljko Ivanek stole Michael's Emmy last year. But Ivanek earned his theft and was an otherwise deserving winner, whereas Hurt was far more inferior on this show. Yet we all feared Ted Danson would win for "Damages" last year because of his big name, and he didn't, so maybe it'll be the same here. But Danson was far more deserving than Hurt as well, so it irks me even more that he's in this position.
2. Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad: He reminds me all too much of Zeljko Ivanek's victory path last year. Like Ivanek, Paul was a somewhat surprising nominee favored by a lot of critics, who looked like his nomination would be his big win. But Ivanek built up momentum with a big Emmy submission tape, steadily stalked the competition when we weren't looking and were focused on bigger names, then took it at the last minute- just like many critics think Paul will do. But Ivanek was a seasoned veteran who apppeared on pretty much every TV drama in the last 20 years- including Lost- so he was already familiar to many voters. Paul, on the other hand, is a young upstart who may have other chances in years ahead. However, the Emmys seem to have a soft spot for Breaking Bad, and gave Bryan Cranston a surprising win in Best Actor last year. I fear they could do the same for his young co-star if we're not careful- but I could probably swallow Paul winning more than I could with Hurt, even though I don't watch his show. At least Paul wouldn't win mainly because of star power.
3. William Shatner, Boston Legal: We've all complained about him many times whenever he gets into the Emmys and threatens Michael. But even though the Emmys usually love Boston Legal and Shatner, I think they're not so strong on them this year. Even though this is his last shot, he doesn't seem to be a frontrunner this time- but I don't want to risk eating my words, so I won't jinx it.
4. John Slattery, Mad Men: A scene stealer on the biggest drama show today, Mad Men. But I don't think he has enough material on his own to threaten, even if Mad Men has a big night.
5. Christian Clemenson, Boston Legal: If Shatner isn't going to win tonight, I don't see how his Boston Legal co-star will have any better luck.

Well, I'll be watching the whole Emmys because of my NPH love. Thank the powers that be that all my tests got moved to Tuesday.

After I read this bobdoc I have just one question...what do you think...will be Michael the winner? It there any chance?

Boston Legal really does just need to be euthanised when it comes to the Emmy's. I really can't see how that bloody show manages to get any nods, and so does the Shat. I mean, probably the best thing he has done in the last decade was those rediculous Kellog's All Bran Yoghurty commercials.
I agree with your rankings for the competition Bob, and await in anticipation what happens. We all know Mike is the better actor, I just hope those judges actually realise that too

One question- are the awards picked based on the tape submitted or the overall performance of the actor?
