Michael Emerson gets beat up a lot playing Ben Linus on Lost. So much so that when friends recently saw the Emmy winner sporting a major bruise in Hawaii, they thought it was fake and possibly just some leftover makeup from a day of shooting. But, no, it was real. What happened? Read on for the painful details. "He has a huge shiner on his right eye!" a source reports. "Apparently, he has a fight scene and the choreography when slightly awry. One of his costars actually connected with Michael's face and gave him a huge black eye." You'd think the real-life injury would be incorporated into the Lost storyline, but our source said, "Michael joked that the makeup department now has to hide his black eye every day instead of creating one." When I saw the headline on Dark UFO, I panicked a little - until I saw the actual story. On a show like this, you can certainly suffer far worse injuries.
But after taking beatings for four years, it's surprising that it only took till right near the end for him to get a real big bruise. I guess the next time we see Ben get beat up, we'll have an extra reason to boo and hiss.

my first mental image was him grabbing his face and yelling a couple choice obscenities - made me giggle a little. But I can't fathom it feels all that great.
I've been clocked before and YIKES. (short story, not bad)

When I first read this I thought it was something really serious and that he might be in hospital... Ahhhhhh what a relief hope he's OK and i'm really surprised it hasn't happen before now Ben has been beaten to a bloody pulp soooooooooo many times. ;D

well, good thing it's not serious. A punch to the eye is not a minor slip up. And I'm sure the stunt double wasn't giving it a full force, but still, I hope this means no damage to the any of the eye parts per se. (i.e. tears or ruptures of eye tissue). That would be bad.

Does anyone know if this episode that they were shooting is one of the two episodes of the finale? If someone is pro-spoiler could tell me if michael will be in the finale?
By the way I'm sorry for him, I'm sure he will be better quickly!

If this happened recently then it was for the finale. The were filming it a little over a week ago. What I'm wondering... is if this was another off island scene with Desmond or they were just rehearsing which would be a reason for him to be in street clothes. |
