'Lost‘ star Michael Emerson says he’s “not surprised at all” that the series finale airing Sunday, May 23, has been expanded to two-and-a-half hours
“The finale script was so thick and so dense with action,” Emerson tells Fancast. “When we were shooting it, we went so far overtime that I thought, ‘How are they ever going to squeeze all this into two hours?!’”
As it turned out, when executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse Tweeted on Monday that they were “done” editing the finale, they themselves apparently had realized that an extra twenty-some minutes of content would benefit the sure-to-be-dense climax.
“If ‘Lost’ has any flaws, it’s that occasionally we suffer from trying to cut too big a show [for the given time slot],” Emerson says. “So I’m happy to hear they thought there was enough great stuff that they had to let it breathe. It’s a really great sign.”
