My friend Alia said I could share her adventure:Upon arrival to the parking structure I got all giddy and excited. The attendants all had DHARMA logo badges! Let the craziness begin!! We were there before the doors opened at 6:30 so we got to just walk around and take it all in. Right away you could feel the collective energy of LOST fans.
Once we got in and went to our seats I was immediately geeky crazy excited. I started to cry. Our seats were awesome. They were showing LOST scenes like on the DVD menus. Then I started to talk to people around us. One lady came by herself from Philly. Another came from OK with her son. Then when it finally started people went NUTS. First guy to come out was some big wig from ABC who introduced the night. He said he invited a very good friend to come but he was unable to attend. He did however send a letter that he asked to be read aloud to the audience. I don't remember it exactly, but it was an amazing letter to Damon and Carlton from George Lucas!!! The audience went wild. Then the dude introduced Damon and CArlton :shakes I knew they had to be there.
When they came out that was the first time I felt that the whole thing was surreal. I couldn't believe I was sharing air with them. I know it sounds crazy...but I've always been a bigger fan of them than any others!!! So they started talking about LOST. How important it's been, how the fans are truly unique...they spoke about some of their own journey. They talked about the first time they went to listen live to Michael Giacchino's orchestra. It was for the score of Exodus. They explained that they write it and it gets filmed but Michael is the pure genius who puts the music in and makes it what it is. They spoke it with such genuine love. They said that day when they listened to the music, they wept like babies. Damon said he coined a term that day he knew he'd one day share with us "Giacchinus" (Giacchino and Genius, just doesn't come off well on the page).
The also talked about how they wrote that arc of the raft and those people leaving. They talked about the characters and as we listened it was as though they were talking about mutual friends. They also wrote all these other messages in a bottle (like the ones Sawyer read on the raft) that other survivors put in the bottle. Tonight they were going to be read for the first time. :shakes
Then they said they wanted to introduce some of the people who have made LOST happen over the years. They have a brief commentary about each one. I knew that Nestor Carbonel and ME were going to be there but I got excited that there might be one or two surprises. They began to introduce them:
Sterling Beaumon, young Ben- "One bad bastard"
Kim Caldwell the love of Sawyers life before the Island, Cassidy
Rebecca Mader- some say she's an anthropologist, some she's an archaeologist but she's definitly smart enough to be both, Charlotte
L. Scott Caldwell- Back in the beginning there was someone who had a conversation with Jack about faith. She believed that her husband might have survived the in tail section.. The heart ad soul of the Island, Rose
William Mapother- Not too long after we arrived, we figured out that there were Others there. Ethan And no offense Sterling, but he's a bigger bastard.
Malcom KelleDavid y- Walt
Harold Perineau- Michael
Ian Sommerhalder- Boone This guy isn't really ugly...he gave his life in the first season as a sacrafice the Island demanded...
Lance Reddik- Abbadon
Jeremy Davies- Daniel Faraday He can explain physics that even he doesn't understand.
You've all been upset that we haven't given you his name, but tongiht we're going to tell you....it's Titus Welliver :laugh - MIB (honestly, it was creepy seeing him at first)
Sonya Walager- Penny She was first introduced in season 2 and was developed into one of the most beloved characters of one of the best love stories...
Henry Ian Cussic- Desmond He's special and he's the love of Penny's life
Daniel Dae Kim- Jin He went from being one of the most despised characters, Carlton, button your top button, to one of the most loved. He's given his life but here he is...
Michael Emmerson- Ben They gave a long explanation about how they wrote a three sotry arc for a character and if it didn't work out they planned to write someone else in as the leader of the Others. But the moment he said "Have you got any milk?" they were sold.
Jeorge Garcia- Hurley I feel badly, but I can't remember what they said about Jeroge.
Nestor Carbonel- Richard Something abotu ageless :brylol :laugh
Josh Holloway- Sawyer they could barely say anything after they said the first syllables about Josh. Everyone screamed...OK mostly the women did.
The way they introduced them all was so personal. So relateable. this was when that feeling of I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M HERE was growing!
So they talked more about the show and what a privilege it's been to have the creative freedom they have. They're so happy to be ending the show on their terms. Now they introduce the main 8 writers: Jack Bender, Eddy Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, Liz Sarnoff...can't remember the others. To me it was awesome to see the creative force all standing up there together. I was truly grateful to them.
finally they introduce Michael Giacchino. He speaks a bit about music and how it can express emotion beter than words and that's what he's tried to do on LOST. They orchestra play 6 pieces. Probably most of you would be able to identify the themes they represent. But hearing some of those iconic LOST sounds was AMAZING. I can't really describe them in words and I can't do sounds here. But one was the sound right before the end of a lot of episodes, where the horns get really loud and then whine down then -LOST Hearing the music played was all that I thought it would be and more.
In between each piece one of the actors read the messages in a bottle. They were read by; Nestor Carbonel (2), Michael Emmerson, Sonya Wallager and Jeorge Garcia. It was neat to get an additional glimpse into the "socks" that the writers wrote for, those who we saw but never got to know.
Then after the LOST pieces Michael of course got a standing ovation and real quick changed into a DHARMA jumpsuit that said "Conductor" on the back. Then he played one more piece. His Oscar winning theme song for UP. The Huz and I squeezed hands really tight and cried. Further affirming that music is powerful...if you've seen UP, you'd understand.
Then the moment I could hardly believe, the icing on the cake (or so I thought) Damon and Carlton introduced the Penultimate Episode...the Finale. Intrestingly, they told us the title and it's not the one that is out there. There was a collective ghasp of surprise when they said it because that title they put out there was a foiler :laugh I'm not saying either here for the purest of the pure. Anyway, then the screen came down and we heard those words- Previously on LOST. Now at this point the collective energy was insane. Everyone was so amazingly excited to watch. It was big it was bright and it was loud- LOVED IT! I could hear the beeping of the watch as we saw the bomb on the sub again. I know I didn't hear that at home :laugh There were parts where people laughed, cheered and clapped but everyone STOPPED before it intruded on any dialogue. Cool!
Then when it was all over we went down but they were shuffling us out a different way becuase there was an afterparty. Had to have a wrist band  But I went to the bathroom in the lobby and when I came out there was Francis Chau- Dr. Chang (oops forgot to add him to the list). I had no pen and no camera (the huz was on his way to the car to get our phones). so I just watched as a few others took pictures. He was really nice
After seeing Francis Chau, I was thinking perhaps we could sneak a peek at some others. So we walked around until we finally saw what was clearly the area the VIP's were leaving. Lots of limos and a small security fence to hold back the throngs. There were about 30 people. We joined them thinking we might get a peek at someone. After about 15 minutes the first one came out- Daniel Roebuck (oops, forgot to add him too) Artz. He got in his car but after a few yards, stopped and got out. He's all "OK, we're gonna start over here" and he slowly came down the line signing autographs and taking pictures. All I had was my Blackberry but I was surprisingly content with that.
Then Ian Sommerhalder came out but as he rolled by he apologized because he was late for a plane but he waved. Josh Holloway came out and opened his window and waved as they left. I was pretty happy that I at least got to meet Artz. Then they just kept coming...and came to us all. We saw every one of them except for maybe 4. The actors that I don't have pictures of didn't stop. There was only one who didn't at least wave... :frown I'm sure they were all beat though! I got Jack Bender (writer) and Eddy Kitsis (writer) to sign my season 1 DVD's. I thanked each one of them for all they've done.
I'm gonna get those pictures out and then I will say more about that.
Damon and Carlton each yelled from their limos "You guys are awesome, we love you!" but they didn't stop
OK, now Rebecca Mader was D-R-U-N-K. I've never heard anyone swear so much! She came up to me and was all "oh my god, what is THIS?!" and she picked up my boa and flung it around her neck too. "You are the HOTTEST woman I've seen all night. You look HOT in that. I am a huge fan of feather boas" Someone asked her how it ends and I swear I thought she was going to answer  Dirty mouth that on
When ME came up to read his message in a bottle he got a big cheer...a long one... I think he was annoyed because he was like "dude, I'm method... I need to get into character" :laugh Finally when everyone calmed down he began. He was SOOOO theatrical when he read it. It was amazing! If I recall, the one he read was "neil" and we all assumed it was meant to be Frogurt.
When we were waiting for the VIP's he and his wife came out. Everyone screamed really loud but he didn't wave...didn't stop or roll down his window. He was probably BEAT! He lives in NY, right? It was 4:00 AM his time
