Hi everyone, I've been checking out this 'forum of interest' for the past few days and I decided to join in the hopes that we'll get more traffic when season 2 of POI starts next month. I'm a musician and teacher in the Los Angeles area and a bit of a newly-minted TV nerd. I'm on a forum for another TV show in which I'm one of only about 5 women among dozens of men who post regularly, so this forum will provide a nice balance to that one. It will be lovely to virtually get to know you all. POI is my favorite new show. I got into it only last month during the reruns. The first episode I saw was "The Fix" (it's the one where Zoe Morgan is first introduced) and I was immediately intrigued by and drawn to the Finch character. So much grace and charm - I immediately cared about the character despite knowing nothing of his back story. That probably sounds familiar to many of you, right? But I'm venturing off-topic. I see there is a separate thread for POI discussion as well as one for 'where did you first see Michael,' so I will trundle off in those directions. Anyhow, this is me. I look forward to meeting you.

Welcome to the board, fringillidae! I'm also anxiously awaiting the return of POI. I was a Michael Emerson fan before POI, and before Lost, but it seems like more people I know personally are getting addicted to POI. Finch is a very interesting and likeable character and Michael gets to show off his comedic skills in addition to the more serious stuff, so I hope that will translate into more people joining us here and talking about the show. We're not as bustling of a board as we were while Lost was airing, but there's a lot of older info, videos and pictures, and when POI returns we'll be doing our weekly threads to discuss the episodes. Have fun looking around!

Thank you!
I have been enjoying the media very much and look forward to the POI episode discussion. Coming into POI during summer reruns has been great but also frustrating. I'll tell you what's been even more frustrating: POI made me decide that I really need to check out this show 'LOST.' Yes, bugger me, I gave it a miss back when it was running because I was either too stupid or too lazy to follow the plot and all the back stories. I recently gave it another try and now I'm halfway through the first series, completely addicted, with no one to discuss it with me. Frustration!
> Michael gets to show off his comedic skills in addition to the more serious stuff
This makes me so happy, when they're in imminent danger and suddenly Finch comes up with a zinger and delivers it completely dryly. Or Reese does the zinger and Finch's reaction is so good, I crack up even when he doesn't say anything. I hope when they release the DVDs there's tons of outtakes of them corpsing. I love that stuff.
I wish there were some footage of Michael doing Shakespeare. I'm hugely into Shakespeare. At least soon we get to see Carrie as Beatrice. If only Michael were in it opposite her as Benedick.

I know what you mean about Lost! I never watched it until Michael's role started (how good can a show about a plane crashing on an island really be?), and we were told then that he would only be on for a handful of episodes, so I just sat back and enjoyed it without thinking about the back story. As I'm sure you already know, Henry Gale/Ben Linus then became a central character, and I ended up yet another addicted and confused Lostie. I never really felt like I understood the show as well as everyone else until it was over and I had rewatched it once. I found myself going online and reading other people's commentaries about it from several years ago. I'll still be checking out an episode and end up Googling questions people already had the answers to in 2008... Yes! Michael's dry delivery is the best. I end up laughing at things I'm not sure I'm supposed to be laughing at. And then there are the situations I know are supposed to be funny, which are just as memorable- I still crack up from time to time when something reminds me of Finch being drugged and proclaiming, "I like your face sideways."
