Heyho,
I posted this to my tumblr yesterday and I thought maybe someone would like to discuss this here as well. Somehow tumblr isn't really the best platform to establish a discussion anyway (...reblogging! spree!...).
"There is something that bothers me about POI
like: really bothers me and I am not sure if it’s because I got something wrong or because it’s just not that logical.
So, some facts first or at least what I perceived as facts…
- Finch is rich - like extremely rich, right?
- He still loves his girlfriend/fiance Grace a lot - so much that he watches her sadly from afar, right?
- He wants to help the people from the irrelevant list because he feels kinda guilty (or for whatever reason - but doesn’t really matter for the sake of what I am writing here).
- He is “in the field” from time to time to help out with the rescue operations but mostly he does his computer stuff from the library.
- He has a badass team out there with Reese, Carter, Fusco and this season with Shaw so there is no real need for him to be out in the field - he could just stay in safety and do his hacking and whatnot from there.
So, my point is - with the amounts of money Finch apparently has he could disappear forever. Like, take Grace, buy an uninhabited island or a farm in the Australian outback or whatever and live happily ever after with her. He could do all the supporting hacking stuff from there and be in contact with his team online all the time. He could live with Grace in peace and still help the irrelevants.
Wouldn’t that kinda be the more logical option instead of what he is doing right now? Am I missing something here?"
