Looks like people are a little timid about posting in here – understandably. But this scene is worth “squee”ing over, if anything is. If any guy wants to know what it is to be ‘sexy’ or ‘charismatic,’ please, sit down and pay close attention to Mr. Michael Emerson in the finale of “Lost,” season two. There’s a reason that this is the hottest thing in the whole two hours – yes, including Sayid and Sawyer running shirtless into the water. Doesn’t compare (the Claire and Charlie kiss is better, slightly, but still, no cigar. I’m a little unconventional, though; Sayid kissing Kate’s hand was way more swoon-worthy for me than Sawyer sticking his tongue down her throat). Michael is definitely not a traditionally handsome man (though all of us you’ll find here are totally convinced of his good looks). But that has nothing to do with it. In this scene he emanates confidence, intelligence, and strength of personality. Check out the way he looks at Jack – it’s practically a Mona Lisa smile. There’s so much going on in this man’s face; you can see that he knows things, that he thinks on a complex level. It’s not cocky or smirking. It has a bite to it, but it’s genuine. It’s intimidating, but it’s masculine, and oh man, is it attractive. Any other thoughts?

Hey, I'm never too shy to 'squee' over Michael! One big giant SQUEE over the scene on the Pala Ferry dock! How cute was it when he confronts Zeke about not wearing his fake beard? When Zeke says, "I think they know" Henry Gale does this great I'm-surrounded-by-idiots look.

Some things I've been thinking about, pertaining to this scene:
* Imagine that Sayid or Locke, people Henry had had much more 'significant' interactions with, were also there, bound and gagged on the dock. Would Henry still have chosen Jack as the one captive to acknowledge?
I think so. He does seem to be doing it to spite them a little - making Sayid the obvious choice - but in a way, he has to say his "Hello again" to Jack: the leader of the Others addressing the leader of the Losties. How cool is that?
* How much of HatchHenry was a ruse? He was a completely different person on the dock. You can see a little of LeaderHenry before - Sayid's beatings and threatenings - even with torture and certain death - never came close to breaking him. I think the infamous "got milk" scene was also all Henry - he was probably getting bored of having to act the weakling, and felt like exercising some authority one of the few ways he could.
But what about his kindness to Locke? All I know is that I can't wait to see more of the new Henry in S3. ;D
* Michael E.'s delivery of "Let's take care of business, shall we?" is curious. It's given as a statement, practically without punctuation or inflection. Something about this, and the way he just stands there, mildly looking at Michael, amazes me. It's better than if he had kind of glowered and tried to intimidate him. Obviously he knows he doesn't need to.
* Henry, for all his famed categorization as an "Other," does seem to care about integrity. He admits to Michael that he did keep his word, setting him free (and says with pride that "we do too"). But watch the disgust and condescension in his face as he tells him "bon voyage." He also takes pleasure in telling Michael about how "what (he) did" will force him to keep silent about what he's seen.
I'm with the majority - while he's lied countless times, without shame, and even attempted to kill someone, he thinks of himself and his fellow Others as "good people." There's probably some worse force on the island, and the Others, while misguided, aren't as evil as they seem.

I'm thinking that Henry may have acknowledged Jack with courtesy and respect (though Jack was submissively bound and gagged) because Jack tended to Henry's arrow wound with such expert care, and Henry was grateful. Shirtless men on this show are always a treat. We even got a little Sawyer-plumber-butt when he was swimming out to Desmond's boat. But, can't compare to Henry on the dock. Our Michael's attractiveness is electric because it's complex and subtle, hinting at a stormy sub-altern world of thoughts and emotions. He's brilliant, and brilliance is hott. As his fans, the ones who notice all this, we're the lucky ones who get to feel the heat

Am I the only one concerned that they've kidnapped their only doctor? What are they going to do if someone gets seriously hurt?

Desmond was almost a doctor once....but he's trapped down in the hatch wreckage.
Bernard is a dentist.
Sun is an herbalist.
Yeah, basically they're screwed.

Am I the only one concerned that they've kidnapped their only doctor? What are they going to do if someone gets seriously hurt? Don't forget about the island's magical healing properties. Though that only seems to happen in select cases - so, yeah, amidala, looks like they are. (hilarious, by the way)

Also, Jack was the one who pulled Sayid off of him when he was beating the crap out of him. So I don't see why he would have anything against Jack.
