OK, we are having conflicting information here. This man claims to have seen Michael and Carrie in his restaurant in Hawaii on April 2, 2008. So does this mean that he is no longer in London? Source: threevue.com/2008/04/03/a-night-with-the-others/03 Apr 08a night with the others post info By Mark Hill Categories: Editorials, Food and Television Tags: LOST, Michael Emerson Last night I had a more direct brush with fame as Lost’s Michael Emerson came back into my restaurant (Sansei Seafood and Sushi) to eat, and I was his server. He was a very nice guy, along with his wife, Carrie Preston, and a few guests from New York. I never brought up the fact of who he was because I’m sure he gets that crap all the time, and I want my guests to be comfortable. They sat out on the lanai, had a bottle of Ruggeri Prosecco, and seemed to have a good time. Here’s a few interesting facts about him via imdb.com: He is mainly a stage actor who has worked on Broadway, and occasionally does film and TV. He graduated from Drake University in Theater Arts. He used to work as a freelance illustrator for The Boston Globe, and the New York Times. All in all, it was a good night, and it’s nice to see that he has pretty much become a regular at Sansei.

I don't think it's strange; Actors do sometimes only work for a few days if they're a guest or have a minor role in a film. I find it easy to believe that Michael was working on "Lost" in London for a couple of days.

I want to know how they handle those 12-14 hour days. I suppose being surrounded by people makes the time seem to fly by, but I'm unsure whether I'd be able to handle that.

I want to know how they handle those 12-14 hour days. I suppose being surrounded by people makes the time seem to fly by, but I'm unsure whether I'd be able to handle that; I broke down on the fourth day of helping my parents move without being allowed to sleep for 4/5 straight days and nights. I rested and slept whenever I could; It was hell. I couldn't believe they were criticizing me for sleeping; I'd done all of my packing and had to help them with theirs. I don't get it either. My husband is an editor and he works about 9 months a year for 12 hours a day. He's actually sleeping at work tonight and working for the entire weekend straight. I work 8:15-4:30 Mon-Fri and I can't imagine having my husband's schedule. *shudder*

It really does depend on what your write or edit and for whom you're doing the work. At the moment, I am a copy editor, but I've been an editor at several points in production and I've also done writing and design. Thankfully we have a union contract and savvy supervisors who understand that long hours do not make for effective editors. At my previous job we had no union protections and people got worked to the point of failure and burnout. I've learned that if you can't do your work in the time allotted you are doing no one any favors, especially yourself, by working extra hours.
Acting sounds like a high-stress job that requires a lot of stamina when you have work and a lot of faith when you don't. And because so many never "succeed" at their job, it also would helpful to have an iron ego.

He's a film editor for Discovery. He usually gets a few months off between projects so on average he's not working as hard for a couple months a year
