So for Valentine's Day my mom got me a stuffed dog and along with it you were able to own and name your very own STAR. Really, the website is for little kids, but it still is pretty cute. So I just got around to naming my star. It is on the constellation, Draco. It's name: Linus LOST and it's dedication date is September, 22, 2004. www.shiningstars.com/congratulations.phpThis linke might work, I'm not sure but you'll have to click on "Next." Ok, my nerdy moment for the night is officially over.

i have a friend who's a memeber in another board, and they bought a star for Vin Diesel's 40th b-day... most of the members gave some bucks via paypal and they bought it... and they send you, i think 2 charts, sky charts that is, with the location of the star you bought and a certificate.
i thought that was very nice. Then they send one of the charts to Vin for him to have it.
dunno if he got it, but still the gesture was very nice...
We should get one for Michael one day!!!

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to comment on what I see as a scam. You can't name a star after someone. The people who "sell" the names have no authority to name celestial objects. The real association in charge of naming stars is the International Astronomical Union and they do not sell the rights to name them. For more information read this report. www.iau.org/public_press/themes/buying_star_names/
