"Lascia ch'io pianga/la cruda sorte/E che sospiri la libertà ."
An approximate translation is 'Let me weep/ over my cruel fate/and that I long for freedom.'
If Michael is correct with his theory that Ben is really a freedom fighter, those words fit him to a T.
