You know, killing off Ben doesn't mean the end of Emerson in the show. Couple other thoughts: To me, the villian par excellence right now is Juliet. Jacob is just too unknown. I still sticking to my theory that he is a relative of Ben's who has mastered some technology that accounts for Smokey and the weird appearances of the dead or animals or individuals from off island. He may be the keeper of the box. I still go back and forth as to whether he is Dharma, Dharma rebel or Dharma antagonist.

You know, killing off Ben doesn't mean the end of Emerson in the show. That could be right technically- many dead characters have been appearing in flashbacks even after they've died, like Ethan and Goodwin and Boone and Christian. Juliet or Jacob or Danielle or Alex or maybe a few other Others could have flashbacks with Ben involved. Still, it's less of him than we'd prefer.

Lost was again mentioned on EW this week- but in a bad way. Their TV critic wrote an article that trashed three of the major ABC cash cows, Lost, Gray's Anatomy, and Ugly Betty. She gave Lost her lowest grade of a C- Ben and Michael weren't mentioned by name, but one of her complaints was that "The Others- so wonderfully, eerily introduced-are now about as ominious as Dockers-clad suburban neighbors."

WoW. Take for what it looks like.

If the Ben character ever dies I think they will make it reeeeally tragic. Super dramatic.
It would fit the character. At least that's what I'd expect.

If Ben lives past this year, I have no doubt the characters will eventually see he's not that evil- if indeed they are fighing a more frightening enemy. So by that time, the show would be able to frame his death as tragic, not just to fans like us.
As for the quote I mentioned from the new article- "The Others- so wonderfully, eerily introduced-are now about as ominious as Dockers-clad suburban neighbors." She does still know Michael Emerson is on the show, right?

I don't see the article on the EW website yet, maybe it'll appear in a few days.

Well they did put Michael and Elizabeth on the cover in February[after every other Lost actor had been on the cover two or three or probably four times already]so perhaps that gives them some good wiil.
