In an interview with Lindeloff and Cuse, it highlights that the show is back on track creatively despite the ratings problem, it gives a couple clues to the next three episodes[which we already knew about], explains their original plans for Nikki and Paulo before us fans made them kill them- but has this scary quote. The producers have kept things well under wraps for the last three weeks, so these EW people obviously don't know what they're talking about- but even hinting of grouping Ben with the possibly doomed Charlie is too much of a scary thought. Let's hope they know better in the future. The article is at www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20034817,00.html [copy and paste it if the address doesn't completly link] It's also on pages 10 and 11 of this week's issue itself, with that old preview picture of Ben on the bottom left of page 10. That is pure speculation on their part. so it doesn't bother me. When that article was being written the writers hadn't even finished writing the finale. They are just filming it now and the "secret" scenes probably haven't been filmed yet. Ben might or might not die but remember he is the face of the Others. He is the person who makes the Others so scary. As long as the Others play a role in the story they will need ME. In the next few weeks we need to keep our ear to the ground to hear if ME is making himself available for any full time work. If he is auditioning, it won't look good for Ben. That is the only way we are going to know if he is going to die or be written out of season 4. In his favor he appears to be well liked by other cast members and works well with the directors. Jack Bender really likes him as you know if you have the season 2 DVDs. Plus he is a spectacular actor. From what I have read from other cast members one reason Eko died so early was because the actor was such a problem on set. Terry O made his feelings toward him quite clear in an EW (I think that is the mag) article. Now Terry is known for being laid back (mellow ME called him) so if you piss him off you must be pretty bad. Ditto with Anna Lucia. She was a problem on set too and had zero chemistry with Foxy when one of the reasons she was hired was to be romantic interest for Jack. Juliet now serves that role. Yes, both actors didn't want to stay around for years but I got the sense they would have liked to stay around a bit longer. Be a problem on the Lost set and off you go.

I don't know about the actor who played Boone, but I know that the actress who played Shannon wanted more money. Boom, she was dead in no time.

if you would rather kill a great character and lose a great actor than move the plot along the best way possible, you lose all real artistic credibility. Cheers Bobdoc! Cheers!

It's usually quite easy to tell when a character is going to be killed off on LOST. They either kill more 'minor' characters that they know won't affect the majority of fans, like Boone, or they kill characters based on whether or not they like the actors. Very predictable.

Charlie isn't a minor character, so I guess they may have fallen out of favor with Dominic by that logic, and Evangelline's complaints about being famous may have ticked them off too. If Naveen's really made complaints about the direction of the show, then Sayid's probably gone too. That's three major ones, kill two minor Others in the bargain[Tom and maybe one of the Alex/Karl duo, since Richard might be getting too important to kill now]and you get a winning cocktail that doesn't hurt us.
