Rp 3 (Others)

Zoe climbed onto Desmond's boat after Karl, and Hurley followed. They were all on the boat now. Zoe went straight over to talk to Ben.

"Ben we need to talk." She said to him.

"I don't really think now is the best time Zoe-" Ben began to reply, as he sat down gingerly, cradling William.

"I think now is best time as ever." Zoe interrupted.

"Well we aren't exactly going to get much privacy here are we." Ben argued gently so he didn't upset the baby.

"I don't care who listens in. I trust everyone on this boat. Infact, I think you are the only one on this boat I trust the least." Zoe replied. Ben sighed.

"Very well, go ahead." Ben replied.

"Well, now with the Hydra gone, what am I supposed to do now? It's not as if I can fulfil my part of the deal now to see him. So what are your plans?" Zoe asked. Benrolled his eyes.

"I haven't even thought about that yet, considering that it only just happened, your brother isn't on the top priority list." Ben sighed. Mel who was near them looked confused at what was being said.

"I haven't seen my brother for fifteen years Ben. I can't wait any longer. You say you have him here, why are you going out of your way in keeping him away from me, when you and I know that it doesn't matter to you what happens to either of us." Zoe asked seriously. Ben looked her straight in the eyes.

"I do care Zoe. You are afterall Ethan's daughter. He was one of my most loyal people here. I may not show it, but it does matter to me what happens to you, especially as it is my fault he is dead, and you never really got to know him for the magnificant man he really was." Ben replied.

"Even if that were true," Zoe replied, "it doesn't change that my brother wasn't Ethan's son. Is that what this is about? This makes him less important to you? Why are you keeping him from me? Is this your way of punishing me?" Ben took another deep sigh.

"You want to know the truth, Zoe? I haven't reunited both of you because I believe you both aren't ready. I really wish you were. But your not. You're not prepared. You have no idea what you will go through when it happens, and with a baby on the way, I fear for your baby's safety with the stress that you are going to emtionally and physically feel. It's already bad enough that you have to deal with the dharma inititive. I know what I am doing Zoe, I am doing what is best for everyone." Ben replied firmly, but Zoe still had a determined look on her face. Alex came over and interupted.

"I think she is more ready then you realise, dad." Alex explained. "Twenty minutes ago, Zoe didn't know how to use a gun. Now she has killed at least three of those hostiles before getting on this boat, without hesitation, and she came up with the plan to get Mel and William protected and to get to this boat safely. If she can handle that, then she can handle meeting her other brother." Alex said to him. Ben didn't reply, but Zoe could see he was thinking about it.

As they entered the village Mel saw murder written all over Ben's face.

"Hey Zoe? Would you mind watching William for a bit? I've got the feeling I'm going to be tied up for a while."

"Sure, Hurley and I can take care of him." Zoe said taking the child in her arms.

"Thanks." Mel said.

"Mel, my house, now." Ben ordered.

Mel ignored him and instead went to her own house. A fuming Ben followed.

Mel was barely inside the door before she heard Ben boom behind her.

"Are you insane!" he screamed at her. "You destroyed a vital piece of this island. How dare you do this. Are you aware of the repercussions you will face?"

"Are you done screaming at me?" she asked facing him.

"No, I'm not. What were you thinking?" he asked.

Mel took a deep breath, "Ben, they had a boat. One faster than Desmond's. There were over thirty men on the Hydra, far more than we could have handled. And I found something else."

"What?" Ben asked, his voice softer.

"When I got to William's room there was a man standing above his crib. He had already killed Isabel and was about to kill William. I had to shoot him. Afterward I searched him and found a small device. It was a heat sensor and picked up on everyone's body heat at the Hydra. It wouldn't have mattered where we hid Ben, they would have found us and killed us. That's why I blew up the Hydra."

"I see. They've brought along technology." Ben whispered.

"Enough to wipe us out for good. What are we going to do Ben?"

But Ben wasn't listening to her. She could see the wheels in his head turning as his thoughts slid into place. Suddenly he turned to her and pulled her into his arms.

"Dear girl," he smiled, "You may have just won us the war."

Zoe sat down on one of the benches, bouncing baby William on her knee as she waited for Mel to return. Hurley was sat down beside her.

"You never mentioed before that you had a brother." Hurley said to her. Zoe didn't look up from where she was watching William carefully.

"Yeah, I know. I don't really talk about him much." Zoe replied.

"Why not?" Hurley asked.

"Cuz it gets upsetting. When I didn't know where he was, how he was. What he was doing, what his family were like." Zoe tried to explain.

"I don't understand.." Hurley replied.

"My mother died when I was only young. I was eight. I got put into foster care, and when I got adopted, I was seperated by my older brother. My adoptive family didn't want both of us. So he went to someone else, and they lived in Cornwall, while I was up in the Lake District. This is all in England by the way, incase you don't know these locations. We weren't allowed to keep in contact. Once I reached eighteen, and could do as I pleased about finding out about my family, I found no trace of my brother at all. Since then, I have been searching for my brother." Zoe explained in more detail.

"Woah." Hurley replied. "So that is how you came to work here?"

"Yes. I was promised if I worked for Ben, they would find my brother. And they did." Zoe replied.

"So now he has finally be found, you can meet him again." Hurley said to her. "That must be pretty overwhelming. "

"It is. But I doubt I'll even see him yet. Ben still hasn't given me a straight answer." Zoe sighed.

"Maybe we don't need Ben's permission." Hurley replied, raising both his eyebrows in a mischevious way. Zoe peered at him suspiciously.

"What do you mean?" She asked curiously.

"Well, who says when you can or can't see your brother? You are a mature soon-to-be mother. You are an adult. You can make your own decisions." Hurley replied. "Why don't we just go - look for him?" Zoe smiled mischeviously back at him.

"That's a good idea Hurley." Zoe replied, beaming at him, but then her face fell. "But whose going to look after William?"

"Sun will. She's good with kids, plus it will be good practise for her for when she has her own. So everybody wins." Hurley replied.

"Where is Sun?" Zoe asked.

"She's staying at Juliet's. I'll take us there." Hurley replied, standing up and started to walk off to Juliet's. Zoe followed, holding William firmly and tightly, but gently at the same time. They arrived at Juliet's after a two minute walk, and knocked on the door. Jin answered.

"Oh, hey - er - Jin. Is Sun here?" Hurley asked. Jin nodded, gesturing them to enter. Sun came into the room almost straight away.

"Oh hey Hurley. What can we do for you?" Sun asked, greeting them both.

"I was kinda hoping you might - well, look after William for us. He is Mel's son. We sorta have something really important to do, and it wouldn't really be appropriate to have him tagging along with us." Hurley explained to her.

"Oh, sure, yeah, that's fine." Sun replied, carefully taking William from Zoe's arms. "How long are you going to be?"

"Just a couple of hours." Zoe replied smiling. "Thanks Sun, you are doing us a huge favor." Sun smiled back.

"No problem. I'll see you later?" Sun replied.

"Sure." Zoe replied and she and Hurley left the house, and started to explore around the village. About about fifteen minutes of looking in and out of buildings, a sudden thought accured to her. Mel would panic is she saw she wasn't around, especially without William. Zoe grabbed her walkie that was attached to her belt on her hip and raidoed in.

"Mel, Mel, this is Zoe." Zoe said to her, tuning into her frequency.

"What is it? Is Will okay?" Mel replied, Zoe sensing worry in her voice.

"William is fine. I got Sun to babysit for you. I'm fed up with Ben's games, I'm going to look for my brother, with or without his help or permission." Zoe explained. "I just wanted to let you know so you didn't panic or anything."

"Oh okay." Mel replied, then Zoe heard Ben's voice over her walkie, they must still have been together.

"She's what?" He groaned. "Argh, this is just what I need, along with having to fight the Inititive." The call was then interrupted by another frequency. Ben obviously had tuned in.

"Don't even think about it Zoe. Stay put." Ben said angrily. "You don't know what you are doing."

"I'm sorry Ben. But Hurley is right. I am an adult, and I can make my own decisions. He is my brother, and you can't stop me seeing him. I'm not letting you push me around anymore, I'm not letting you guilt trip me, or manipulate me. I am seeing my brother, and you can't stop me." Zoe replied seriously. Zoe could hear Ben lose his temper down the other end.

"Where are you?" He snapped, not realising that she and Hurley, like himself weren't far away from each other. They were still in the village.

"Do you really think I am going to tell you that?" Zoe replied sighing. There was a pause. Ben was thinking again.

"Okay, fine. I can see that I am not going to disuade you. At least let me meet up with you, and I will take you to him. You'll see him a lot quicker then you just running around the island, not knowing where to find him." Ben replied. Zoe half laughed.

"You forget, I don't trust you as much as you think Ben. And do you really think I am going to let you come here, and manipulate me out of it, delaying me actually seeing him? I don't think so. Ben, you've lost this battle I'm afraid. Sorry, but I've got to go now." Zoe finished.

"Wait - stop, I'm coming to find you-" Ben began to reply, but Zoe turned her walkie off, knowing that it was going to get her into more trouble, but she didn't care anymore. Fifteen years was a long time. She couldn't handle any longer.

Meanwhile, Ben was still with Mel, just approaching Sayid and Jack.

"We've got to go after her Mel." Ben said to her. "If they catch her - or if she - she could jepordise the entire plan. We will have to postpone until we get her back here - or at least under a watchful eye. I can't believe how careless I was. I know she's a rouge child, I should have been more careful. Will you help?"

Mel, Ben and Sophie had been walking for twenty minutes in silence when Mel finally broke it.

"Ben, where are you keeping Zoe's brother?" she asked.

"Where he is does not matter right now." he said as he continued through the jungle.

"Yes, it does. That is where we need to start looking for her."

"So you're giving the orders now?" Sophie asked coming up beside Ben.

"It seems that way." Ben mumbled.

"I don't mean to break up y'alls little reunion over there but it seems I am the only one who recalls that Dharma is able to track our every move. I guarentee they know where we are right now and I don't want to stick around long enough to find out."

"Too late." they heard from behind them.

Mel turned slowly to see a group of eight men from the Dharma Initiative. They each held guns and none of them looked very happy.

Mel angled her face to Ben and raised her eyebrow in question. He nodded back to her.

"I thought you would have learned your lesson by now." Mel said taking a step forward and drawing the men's eyes away from Ben and Sophie.

"How so?" the leader asked.

Mel answered confidently, though on the inside she was frightened, "After I blew up all your friends I thought you'd have enough sense to leave us alone."

"You thought wrong, girlie, we just wanted to hunt you down even more.'

"Well in that case." Mel said as she reached behind her and pulled out her gun and pointed it at the main man, "I guess we won't be playing nice then."

"Is she crazy?" Mel heard Sophie whisper to Ben behind her.

Instantly Mel had eight guns aimed at her. Her heart was pounding so fast and loud that she was sure everyone else could hear it.

Mel glanced out of the corner of her eye and saw Ben and Sophie standing where she had left them, "Ben, what are you still doing here? Run!" she demanded.

Ben shook his head but Sophie pulled on his arm. Mel caught Ben's eyes and nodded that it was okay. Ben followed Sophie through the jungle.

"Go after them!" the man in charge yelled.

Mel opened fire. She shot at every man she was close enough to. She caused such a commotion that the men who had gone after Ben and Sophie were forced to come back to subdue her.

In the end, Mel was captured but Ben had escaped which was Mel's objective in the first place.

"You're in for it now, girlie." the main man, who Mel had learned was named Ace, told her just before he pulled a bag over her head and everything went black.

I could just smack Ben for making us tramp out into the jungle when Zoe and Hurley never even left the village! lol ;D


"What are we going to do with her?" Mel heard someone ask after they had been walking for hours. They had finally stopped and Mel knew they were near the beach because she could hear the ocean.

"Were going to get information out of her, of course." Ace answered.

"You really think she is going to talk?"

"If she doesn't then we'll just have to make her. After what she did to our boys over on that island, I don't think I'll have too much trouble."

Mel didn't like the tone in Ace's voice. He was a bad man to be dealing with. She didn't think for a second he would hesitate in torturing her for the information he wanted.

'How am I going to get myself out of this one?' she asked herself.

"Ok girlie, we're going to have a little chat." Ace said as he tore the bag off of her head.

Mel squinted as her eyes adjusted to the bright light, "You've got to stop calling me girlie. Or do you like playing into the dumb, macho stereotype?"

Ace chuckled, "At least you won't be boring."

"What is it that you want to know. You already know where everyone is. I don't have anything else to tell you." Mel said as she tested the ropes that bound her wrists behind her.

"You can't find everything on this island with this little box." Ace said patting his own heat sensor at his side. "We're looking for something different. A place actually. A place that you can only find if you have been there before."

Mel thought about what Ace said. She couldn't think of what he might be talking about, unless...

Mel's eyes got wide and she wasn't able to stop her realization from showing on her face. The men wanted to know where Jacob's cabin was. Was that why Ben had taken her there? So there would be another who knew where to find it in case something happened to him?

Ace noticed that Mel had discovered what he was talking about, "So you do know where he is."

"I have no idea what you are talking about." Mel tried to recover.

"We'll see what you know." Ace laughed as he produced a pair of pliers from his back pocket.

"I'm not going to stop until you tell me what I want to know." Ace said over Mel's screams of pain.

"I don't know." she breathed.

"Another lie. Should we see how your other fingers feel about it?" he said as he switched to her other hand and grabbed her pinky. He started to squeeze the pliers around her little finger and she could feel it abuot to break.

"Please stop!" she screamed but he wouldn't.

"I can do this all day, girlie." he said, grinning.

"I think not." they both heard in a thickly Russian accented voice.

Mel watched in amazement as a bullet tore past her head and hit Ace square in the chest. She felt a knife cut the ropes behind her back as Ace fell to the ground, dead.

Cradeling her wrists she turned around to see her savior. She didn't believe what she saw, "Mikhail?"
