Emma pulled her clothes back on in the darkness, then leaned close to Jack's ear. "I really love you, Jack," she whispered. Jack placed his hands on her head and pulled her close for another tender kiss. "And I'm going to get us out of here so we can get back to our baby." She stood up and pulled out the dead satellite phone that, thankfully, Chris and Nathan hadn't thought was worth confiscating.
"If that's what it takes to inspire you, maybe we should do it again," Jack laughed, as he stood up in the small space.
Emma grinned. "Not now, Jack. We need something to pry open the vent. Do you think the phone might have a component that would work?"
Jack considered her idea for a moment. "I don't know. It would mean breaking the phone apart, and that might ruin our chances of locating Richard."
Emma shrugged. "Our chances of locating him from inside this empty closet are pretty slim anyway."
"All right," Jack replied. "Let's do it." Jack took the phone from Emma's hands and smashed it into the concrete wall. It fell apart into tiny pieces. Emma felt around the floor in the darkness until she found a small metal piece that might make a good screwdriver.
"This will work." Emma handed it to Jack, who was taller. He reached up and tried it on the ventilation grate. It worked beautifully.
"You're a better fit for it - are you up for it?" he asked.
"I am," Emma replied, "but I'm not leaving you behind."
"Just take a look around, see where it leads, and come back."
"What if those goons come in here and see that I've gone?" Emma asked, suddenly struck with fear, remembering the automatic weapons they had pressed against Jack's back.
"It's dark enough in here, they might not even notice you're missing. We'll have to take our chances."
Emma stepped into Jack's hands and he lifted her high enough to reach the ventilation shaft. She pulled herself up the rest of the way and found herself in a very claustrophobic crawlspace leading in multiple directions.
"Emma!" Jack whispered before she took off in a random direction. "I love you too!"

Mel smiled as William laughed in delight on the swing.
"Push me higher Papa!" William yelled.
"Ok son, higher you go!" Christian laughed.
Mel sat with Bella on the grass and did her best not to look at Christian. It had been three days since Ben had shown her the video and she still had to stop herself from shooting him. It made her sick that he was around them all of the time and that they called him Papa. So Mel had watched Christian closely. He hadn't been alone with her children once since she found out the truth about him. She could tell Christian thought she was warming to him and their marriage by wanting to be around him so much, too bad he was wrong.
Suddenly Mel heard William's familiar voice yell, "Daddy!" and she saw him dash across the courtyard.
He jumped into Ben's arms and hugged him tightly.
"There's my Will!" Ben said wrapping his arms around William and smiling.
"I missed you." William said.
Ben smiled and hugged William again, "I missed you to little guy. I'm sorry it's been so long since I've seen you."
Mel looked back at Christian and found his face stony as he watched William and his real father.
Bella had been watching them both with curious eyes and as soon as Mel let her on the ground she crawled towards Ben and William. Ben laughed and bent down to scoop her up with his free arm and kissed her forehead. Bella giggled and grabbed his nose.
Still chuckling Ben came over to Mel.
"Do you mind if I take them for a bit? I'd like to spend some time with them." he asked.
"With Sophie?" Mel inquired.
"No, just with me."
"Then of course. They'd love to spend some time with their father." Mel smiled.
"I'll have them back before dinner." Ben nodded then looked at William. "Who wants to go for a walk?" he asked playfully.
"I do!" William exclaimed.
Ben set him down and William ran ahead as Ben walked with Bella. Every so often William would find something intersting and run back to show Ben.
"The perfect father." Christian said darkly as he bent down next to Mel.
Mel glanced up at him, "He is their father."
"When it's convienient for him." Christian muttered.
Mel sighed, "What is the problem now?"
"It's nothing. It's just Jack's been gone for a few days, so has Emma. I'm worried."
Mel nodded, "Didn't Ben send them to find Sophie?"
"Yes, but she's back already and they are not. I think something may have happened to them."
"You should go look for them." Mel offered.
Christian flashed a hurt look at her apparant brush off. "I think I will." he said as he stood abruptly and walked to their house. Minutes later he exited it and walked straight for the jungle.

Emma fought back her feelings of claustrophobia as she crawled through the cramped ventilation ducts. The first direction she took led nowhere, and she was forced to crawl back to the beginning. She cursed Ben with every breath for sending them into this horrid situation.
"Jack, are you still there?" she whispered when she was once again over their little closet.
"I'm here," he answered. "What did you find?"
"So far, just one dead end," she replied. "I have to try another direction."
Emma crawled in the opposite direction. After a few twists and turns a little bit of sunlight filtered into the duct, and the path ended in a rusty metal grate which separated the outside world from Emma. This outer grate easily gave way when Emma pushed it out from the inside. The opening was about 8 feet above the ground. She breathed an enormous sigh of relief. This was their escape route.
She scurried back to Jack as quickly as possible. "I've found a way out, Jack! Can you pull yourself up?"
"I'll try." Jack reached his hands up. Emma grabbed his hands and pulled with all her strength. At that moment they both heard the lock turn in the door to their cell. Jack's eyes locked with Emma's.
"I don't have the strength, Jack!" She whispered in a panic.
"Go, Emma! Get out of here!" he responded. The door was opening.
"I"m not leaving you!" she cried.
"You have to! Go and get help! There are only two of them, with more people we can take them down. GO NOW!" he yelled, just as Nathan stepped into the room and saw Jack trying to pull himself into the ventilation duct.
"What do you think you're doing?" he sneered.
Emma's heart sank. From the light in the hallway she could just barely make out Nathan's figure. He punched Jack in the face, then in the stomach. Emma couldn't watch anymore. She crawled back to the exit she had found, jumped to the ground and ran to find her horse.

"Right on time." Mel said as she opened the door to Ben, William, and Bella.
Ben smiled, "Did you doubt me?"
"No, I didn't. Come in."
Bella was fast asleep with her head lying on Ben's shoulder. 'You take Will." Ben offered. "I'll hold her a little longer."
Mel nodded and took William back into the kids room. He was falling asleep as she changed him into his pajamas and was happy to climb into bed.
Mel cam back into the living room and saw Ben sitting on the rocker, softly rocking Bella.
"I didn't realize how much I had missed them until today." he whispered.
"They adore you Ben." Mel smiled.
"I'm going to be around more. I want to be here for them." he promised.
Mel reacher over and squeezed his hand, "I believe you."
"Where is your husband?"
Mel cringed, "Do you have to call him that?"
"That is what he is."
"Fine, where is your wife?" Mel asked harshly.
"She's home with Molly."
Mel sighed, "Christian left to look for Jack and Emma. he thinks they've been gone for too long."
Ben thought for a moment before a dark look came across his face. "I don't know if you care for his well being but it's not necessarily safe out in the jungle for your husband. Or anyone for that matter."
"Why not?"
"There is a good chance that Widmore is on the island." ben said gravely.
"What? As in Penelope Widmore?"
Ben looked surprised, "No, her father, Charles."
Mel took a moment to take it in, "That's not good."
"Dear, that is the understatement of the century."
Mel shook her head, "We finally stop fighting each other and the island gives us someone new to fight."
"No!" Ben said forcefully causing Bella to stir. "No." he repeated softly, "Widmore doesn't know anything about you or William and Bella and that is how I want it to stay."
"What? Why?"
"Because he will use our children against me."
"Then why can't I help?" Mel asked.
Ben looked at her closely, "He'll use you against me as well. He will threaten to hurt you and if I don't do what he wants he'll kill you."
Mel stood up, "Then you let him do what he must. You have to worry about everyone on the island Ben, not just me."
Ben removed his glasses with his free hand, "That's just the thing Mel. If it came down to it, and I had to choose between you and the island, I don't think I could pick the island if it meant that you would die."
Mel's breath caught and she took a step backward, "Ben." she started. She wanted to tell him that he didn't mean what he was saying, that sacrificing the whole island for her was insane, but the words wouldn't come.
Ben looked down at Bella before looking back to Mel, "I would have to pick you."

Emma's vision was clouded with tears as she fled on horseback away from the Tempest, and away from Jack. She didn't know if she would see him again, and she struggled with a terrible guilt for leaving him behind. She pushed Mr. Darcy to gallop as fast as he could towards the village. It wasn't long until she realized she was hopelessly lost in the jungle.
Emma pulled on the reins to bring the horse to a stop and jumped to the ground, landing heavily on the jungle floor. She tried to get her bearings, but it was getting dark and everything looked unfamiliar. Then the whispers began to surround her, increasing in volume until they drowned out the noises of the jungle. "Help me!" she begged. "Someone please help me!"
The whispers stopped suddenly, and were replaced by the rustling of trees. Someone - or something - was moving towards her. Emma stood frozen to the spot. Mr. Darcy was clearly spooked and fled, leaving Emma truly alone in the jungle.
"Who is it?" she cried. "What do you want?"
The noise moved closer, and the ferns directly in front of her parted to reveal a very unexpected, familiar face.
"Emma!" Sayid exclaimed in surprise. Emma couldn't hold back her relief. She ran towards him, flung her arms around his neck and sobbed hysterically.
"How did you get back?" she cried. "Where did you go? So much has happened, Sayid...so many bad things..."
"Shhhh." Sayid caressed her hair soothingly. "Tell me what's happened."
"You have no idea...we were looking for Sophie, and now Jack is a prisoner in the Tempest, two men have him, I have no idea who they are! And my baby, the Others took my baby! And the village is a mess...there was a purge..."
Sayid looked Emma in the eye. "First things first. We'll get Jack out of the Tempest. Then you can catch me up on everything after that. Okay? I'm on my way to the village to see Ben. We'll need more people to break Jack out of there."
Emma nodded, but her eyes widened as she acknowledged her greatest fear. "They might kill him, Sayid."
"We won't let that happen. I promise you." Sayid responded. Emma had always instinctively trusted Sayid, and she prayed he hadn't changed so much in the past few months that her trust might be misdirected. He had been her friend; he had helped her find Desmond in the Orchid. And now he would help her find her baby.

Mel stared at Ben in shock as silence engulfed the room.
"That is the most meaningful thing anyone had ever said to me." Mel whispered.
"I meant it, every word." Ben assured her.
Mel took a deep breath and walked over to Ben. She carefully took Bella out of his arms and walked her back to the bedroom. She laid her in her bed and went back out to the living room. Ben hadn't moved from where he stood earlier.
Mel approached Ben slowly and stopped right in front of him. She leaned forward and kissed his lips quickly before stepping back. Then she slapped him across the face.
Ben's eyes widened, "What was the for?"
"Get out of my house." Mel said carefully, trying not tor raise her voice.
"I don't understand Mel." Ben replied making no move toward the door.
"I do. I'm not going to let you do this to me again Ben. I don't know if I can live through it one more time."
"What are you talking about?"
"You're with Sophie Ben! You're married to her! And you're back to your old tricks. I won't let you lead me along and play me like you did before."
"Mel." Ben started.
"No. You want to keep me in your pocket Ben, just in case you ever need me. I can't live my life like that. and how dare you put this island's fate on me!" Mel said, losing control and yelling at him.
"I just told you that I would never sacrifice your life, that I would protect you!" Ben said raising his own voice in frustration.
"You said that you would let everyone on this island die to save me. And you know what Ben? I believe you. I think you'd do it. But I'm not going to let you make me responsible for more people dying."
Ben grabbed Mel's arm and swung her around to face him, "You're being ridiculous." he seethed.
Mel looked up at him, "I'm being realistic."
Ben shook his head.
"Fine." Mel said, "Leave her."
"What?" Ben asked.
"You claim to be so devoted to me, so leave your wife. Leave Sophie for me. You do that and I will do whatever you want me to."
Ben dropped her arm in shock. He looked around the room as if it would give him the answer he needed.
"That's what I thought." Mel said crossing her arms in front of her. "This whole time you've been playing a game haven't you Ben? Getting me back on your side because I can't remember the past six months of my life. I'm sure you loved flaunting that in Christian's face."
Ben looked away abruptly and Mel gasped, "You lied about him didn't you? Damnit Ben, that tape you showed me, was it real?"
"It was reall footage from the freighter, yes." he offered.
Mel shook her head, "You can be such a bastard. I want you to leave, now."
Ben made for the door but stopped in front of her. He gazed down at her, "No matter what you think right now, I will always care very deeply for you. And I will do whatever it takes to keep both you and our children safe. Do you understand that?" he asked.
Mel glared up at him and nodded.
"Whatever it takes." he repeated dangerously before walking swiftly out the front door.
Mel shut it behind him and took a deep breath. She leaned against the door and felt herself slide to the floor.

Sayid listened silently as they hiked and Emma relayed everything that had happened on the island since his departure.
"I think I might know who the men in the Tempest are." he said in a strained voice. "They are Widmore's men, and they are probably looking for Ben, Sophie and myself."
"Why?" Emma questioned him, puzzled.
"You probably don't want to know," he replied. "But Jack is in very real danger. We all are, really."
Emma suddenly felt very dizzy. Sayid caught her and held her steady. They were now very close the the Village, and heard someone rustling in the foliage.
"We have to stop meeting in the jungle like this, Emma." Christian smiled warmly as he emerged from the jungle and approached her, then frowned when he saw her in Sayid's arms. "Where is Jack?"
"He's in trouble," Emma blurted out.

"Oh molly where is your father?" Sophie sighed. She was anixous to know he was ok, since she told him about widmores people ben had hardly said anything more about, and her deadline was drawing closer. What was she to do. She glanced over to molly and smiled as she watched her rub her eyes of tiredness. "Lets put you in your cot." as she swooped her up and kissed her cheek, placing into her cot, and laying her comfort blanket next to her. She closed the door ajar and headed back into the living room. Seeing Nathan stand infront of her.
"Times ticking Sophie!" he said.
"What are you doing here? Get out of my house."
"What incase ben comes back." he started to chuckle and applause. "Oh well done by the way, you have one hour. If not its bye bye Molly." as he looked over to her room.
"No! You said three days."
"Hmm, well that was before you decided to tell him." He pointed to the clock. "I wouldn't waste your time." as he left off.

"Sayid, don't you think we're wasting time by going back to the village? What if Jack's in pain, or....or worse?" Emma had to push the thought out of her mind; if she gave in to her fears, she would lose all reason and hysteria would take over. Already the tremendous guilt she felt over leaving Jack behind threatened to overwhelm her.
"Ben needs to know that these people are on the island. They're extremely dangerous. Besides, we won't be able to help Jack without more people and more weapons." Sayid responded crisply. "We need to get back to the village first."
Emma stopped in her tracks. "No, Sayid. You're wrong. The longer we leave Jack with those miserable men, the more harm they'll do. I'm going back."
"You can't!" Sayid grabbed Emma roughly by the shoulders. "What good would it do Jack?"
"What good will it do him if he's dead by the time we arrive?" Emma screamed at him. "I'm going back, with or without you." She moved close enough to Sayid to kiss him if she had wanted to. She reached her arm around him and into the holster around his waist, where he kept a gun on either side of his body. She gazed at him placidly, daring him to stop her, as she removed one of the guns and put it in her own pocket. Without another word, she fled in the direction they had just come from.
Christian watched the scene before him silently, and immediately took off after Emma. Sayid caught him by the arm. "What are you doing?"
"She's determined to go back to the Tempest, Sayid. She can't do this alone." Christian shook himself free of Sayid's grasp and ran after Emma.
Sayid sighed loudly and shook his head in disbelief. "This won't end well." he said to himself. He hurriedly pulled a signal flare out his backpack and lit it, pausing for only a moment to watch it explode in the air above him before running to catch up with Emma and Christian.

Sophie looked at the clock it was only 10 minutes to go, she hadn't seen Ben since he left off that morning to see William and Bella. She noticed Juliet out in the village and hollered her over.
"Can you watch Molly for me?" she asked.
"Of course" Juliet smiled.
"I want you keep an eye on her at all times please."
Juliet looked at her and nodded but was confused to why Sophie was so edgy. "Is something wrong?" she asked.
"There will be if i don't stop this." she said walking off, and as soon as Juliet turned to hear molly waking she turned back and Sophie was gone.
................
"I'm not doing it!" Sophie stormed through in the tempest. Seeing Jack tied and gagged to a chair. Sophie had used her powers to get to the tempest urgently.
"I thought you might say that!" Nathan smirked at her. "Bring him out please!" he shouted over to Chris. She watched as he fiddled with a door, then dragged a cuffed Ben out and made him stand infront of her.
"No!" she gasped in her breath. The glared at Nathan. "If you had him all this time. Why don't you just kill him yourself?" she snapped.
"Because this is more fun!" he laughed tossing a gun to her. "Now all you do is aim and pull the trigger." Suddenly there was a loud gun shot sound as he shot Ben right infront, only hitting his leg making him fall down and yell in pain.
"Nooooooo" Sophie went over to him but chris stood in the way, pulled her up from the ground.
"Now its your turn!" Nathan stated.
"No! I love him!" she screamed.
"But does he feel the same?" he went over to Ben, "Do you Benjamin?" he asked pulling at his hair making him look up at her. "Tell her what you told us!" Ben just gave him a cold stare and didn't say anything. So then Nathan kicked him in the ribs. "Tell her!"
"Stoppit, leave him alone." Sophie screamed crying.
I made a deal with them!" Ben suddenly blurted out, "That they would take you."
"Thats right Sophie, see lover boy, wanted rid of you. Don't you understand. Only one thing is important to him, and thats not you. Either way you loose out, so why not just kill him!"
"Your lying Ben! I know you love me!" she screamed.
Ben looked up and her and shook his head. "I'm sorry."
"Kill him Sophie. Kill the bastard thats ruined your life!" Nathan egged her on.
"There's something you should know Sophie." Ben spoke. "I love Mel." Sophie aimed the gun and shot him in the chest. Realising what she done, she dropped the gun and fell on her knees breaking down in tears.
"You done the right thing Sophie" Nathan patted her on the shoulder. "Check him!" he orderd Chris. Chris went down to feel a pulse shaking his head,
"He's gone...."
Sophie broke down in tears even more. Nathan started to hear voices coming from the entrance of the tempist. "And now your free Sophie." He injected something into her arm. Sophie looked up feeling groggy, from whatever he injected into her, she collapsed on the floor, he eyelids going, "We gave you our word. Goodbye Sophie." Sophie went into unconicouness "We have to go now!" he ordered to Chris, as they both went off in another dierection.
Emma, Christian and Sayid burst into the main room, finding Jack trying to mumble something in his gag, and seeing both Ben, and Sophies bodies on the floor.

Mel was washing dishes in the kitchen after Ben had left. He had been gone a while but she was still reeling over what he had told her.
It chilled her to the core that he was willing to sacrifice all those lives for her but on the other hand it was an amazing, heartfelt statement and those didn't come often from Ben.
Mel pulled another dish out of the soapy water when all of the sudden a sharp pain shot through her chest. She looked down thinking she had somehow been shot but she didn't see any blood. It hit her again and the plate she was holding dropped to the floor and shattered.
"Oh God." she cried as she crashed to the floor, her chest on fire. Tears ran down her face as she held her hand tightly over he heart. Something was wrong, very, very wrong.
"No!" she cried, "Ben!"

Sophie gasped and sat up, she looked over to Ben laying lifeless on the floor.
"What have i done!" she struggled over to him and cried on his chest, "I'm so sorry Ben.....I'm sorry" she whispered. "I told you something bad would happen." she mumbled crying. Jack had been freed, him and emma rushed over, while Sayid rushed off behind Nathan and Chris. "I love you,...... come back" she whispered. She still felt weak, whatever Nathan put in her, was not making her good, she was dizzy and couldn't focus, whatever it was, was feeding her powers up. Grabbings Ben's hand she squeezed it tightly. Theres one thing she had to do before they were gone, save Ben!
Suddenly he awoke with a breathless gasp, "Ben!" she cried, before collasping next to him. Immediatly Jack played doctor, and started on Ben. Emma called Christian over to help with Sophie.

The pain in Mel's chest didn't go away, it only intensified.
She called out for help but knew no one was there. Christian had gone off into the jungle and she herself had sent Ben away.
As she thought his name another fresh jolt of pain ran through her.
"What's happening to him?" she asked out loud before collapsing onto the floor, unconscious.

Emma glanced over at Jack as he cleaned Ben's wound. He smiled at Emma reassuringly. The relief she felt when she found he was alive and, although a little beat up, mostly unharmed, was indescribable. She smiled back, then turned her attention to Sophie.
Christian felt Sophie's pulse. "She's going to be all right, she's getting stronger now."
Emma sighed heavily and watched as Christian tried to wake Sophie up. Her gaze drifted towards the doorway, where she was shocked to find John Locke watching them.
"How long have you been standing there, John?" she asked. Jack and Christian turned towards the doorway in surprise. Ben, very weak but conscious and breathing, propped himself up on his elbows to see what was going on around him. He saw Sophie lying on the ground next to him and grabbed her hand, squeezing it lovingly.
Locke flashed his enigmatic smile. "Long enough. I saw the flare Sayid set off, then followed your path to the Tempest. It wasn't hard to find you. I have to admit, I never thought I would see Ben and Christian in the same room together in this lifetime."
"Would you care to help out, John?" Jack asked sarcastically. "We've got our hands full here."
John shook his head. "No. I've got somewhere else I need to be."
"And where is that?" asked Christian.
John smiled again. "It seems Jacob wants me to reclaim my island." John took a step backwards through the doorway and closed the door to the Tempest, locking it securely.
Aghast, Emma ran to the doorway and began pounding on it. "Locke! Let us out! Are you insane?"
"Insane? Emma, you're the one who wanted to torture me in the Orchid." He laughed, and as they listened his laugh grew fainter and fainter, until it disappeared entirely. Emma turned around and caught Jack's eye. Once again, they found themselves trapped in the Tempest.

"Mama?" Mel heard a faint voice call. "Mama, what's wrong?"
Mel slowly opened her eyes and was met with sunlight streaming in through the window. She tried to sit up and nearly cried out as her chest felt like it was on fire. She looked for the voice she had heard. William stood next to her, still in his pajamas with a worried look on his face.
"Hi sweetheart." Mel said as she wrapped an arm around him and pulled him close.
"Mama's hurt?" William asked.
"Yes baby, I think I am. But I'm okay now."
William reached up and kissed her on the cheek.
Mel smiled, "I'm sorry I scared you Will. Is Bella still sleeping?"
Williams nodded.
"Alright. I need you to do something for mama. I need you to be a big boy and go get dressed. Do you think you can do that all by yourself?"
A smile lit up William's face, "I can!"
"Good! Go get started, okay?" Mel said as she set him back down and watched him run down the hall into his bedroom.
Mel sighed and pulled herself up from the floor. She was shakey and weak. She couldn't get rid of the feeling that something terrible had happened and that it had happened to Ben.
Mel had just finished cleaning up the broken plate she had dropped the night before when William ran back into the living room.
"All done mama!" he cried joyfully.
"Good job baby. Let's get your sister and we'll go visit auntie Juliet."
"Yay!" William sang as Mel got Bella out of her crib and they left the house.
Mel walked with her kids quickly across the courtyard and pounded on Juliet's door. She didn't get an answer so she knocked harder.
"Damn." Mel sad under her breath.
"Mel?" she heard someone say and turned around to see Sun looking at her.
"Hi Sun."
Sun took in her worried gaze and the cut on her forehead from when she had fallen, "Are you alright?"
Mel nodded and held back tears, "I am but I'm not sure about..." she trailed off not wanting to say his name.
"About Christian?" Sun asked.
Mel shook her head and looked down.
"About Ben then." Sun said understanding.
"Listen Sun, I really need to go out there. And I can't find Juliet. I know you don't owe me anything but would you please watch William and Bella for me?"
Sun seemed unsure.
"I have to find him, he's hurt." Mel pleaded.
Finally Sun nodded, "Of course."
"Thank you Sun." Mel said as she placed Bella, who was still asleep, in Sun's arms.
"William? You listen to Sun okay? She's going to look after you while mama goes out and finds daddy."
"Come on little one." Sun smiled to William and offered her hand, "You can meet my daughter, Ji Yeon."
William was intrigued and took Sun's hand. Mel watched them as they walked to Sun's house and entered the front door then she turned and headed for the jungle.
She was in the middle of the courtyard when a funny feeling came over her. She stopped and looked around. Her gazed passed over the cemetary and she froze.
Ben stood there, immobile, staring at her.
"Thank God!" she cried and hurried to the cemetary.
When she was almost there Ben suddenly turned and began walking away.
"Ben?" she called but he didn't stop, he kept walking until her was nearly to the border of the jungle.
Mel stopped in confusion and happend to look down. She stood at the edge of a large hole. There was some kind of fabric buried beneath the dirt. Mel looked up and saw a cross made of of tree branches at the head of the hole.
She studied it for a moment wondering why there would be an empty hole there. Her blood ran cold as she finally figured out what is was. She was standing on her grave, the one she had crawled out of less than a week ago. Mel shuddered and turned away.
She saw Ben again, standing near the jungle. As soon as she began to follow him he began to walk away from her again.
"Ben!" she yelled as she chased him, "Please stop!"
Mel followed Ben through the jungle into an area she had never been before. He finally stopped in a clearing and turned to face her. She walked right up to him.
"Why wouldn't you stop? Why won't you talk to me?" she said, upset.
Ben looked at her for another moment before he vanished.
Mel looked around in shock. He hadn't run away, he had actually disappeared. Mel pulled her gun out of her jeans and turned a circle in the clearing. She felt as if it was closing in on her and the thought came to her that she should have stopped chasing Ben at the cemetary.
Mel heard a slight rustling to her right and whipped her gun around in that direction.
"Who's there?"
She didn't get an answer as the person stepped out of the jungle. The person smirked when they heard her sharp intake of breath.
Mel shook her head as he stepped closer to her, "No." she whispered. "It's not possible." she cried as she crashed to her knees, her gun falling out of her hand.
He bent down and picked her gun up off the jungle floor and stowed it in his jacket. He looked down at her.
Mel could feel the tears running down her face as she looked up into the man's eyes, her eyes. "Dad?" she breathed.
Charles Widmore looked down at the woman at his feet. The daughter no one knew about. He smiled at the confusion written on her face, "Hello Melody."
