I was a really good episode. It brought us back to the beach and we see Charlie being the same stubborn self that he tends to be. Maybe he should be watching his back instead of getting someone drunk.
I think what he learned last night is really going to play with his mind!

Although the woman told him that pushing the button would be the greatest thing he'd do in his life, I think they'll be something more for Desmond to do that could equal or blow it away. I believe this because the island is different. It's a different reality and because that button wasn't pushed for a final time, this may have altered his course.
I did like the old woman's line of "the universe has a way of course correcting."

But that episode was so.....out of the blue. I hate the "universe corrects things" crap. In my opinion that episode hsouldn't have been in there...Lost keeps bouncing back and forth back and forth....I with they would stay consistant.

Although the woman told him that pushing the button would be the greatest thing he'd do in his life, What bothered me about that woman was the she made it sound like turning the key and pushing the button had been trivial tasks. Desmond fully expected to die when he turned the failsafe key yet he didn't hesitate one bit. “No greater love has a man than to lay down his life for another.” Desmond is a christ figure. He chooses death to save the world yet arises a day later changed forever.

But that episode was so.....out of the blue. I hate the "universe corrects things" crap. In my opinion that episode hsouldn't have been in there...Lost keeps bouncing back and forth back and forth....I with they would stay consistant. I was raised a Calvinist. I understand the meaning of this episode. I no longer am a practicing Calvinist, I cannot agree with predestination. However, this episode did illustrate the meaning that Calvinist believe by their faith. Calvinists believe that no matter what, if you were meant to do or to be something, you can try as hard as you want, you cannot change that what God set out for you as your destiny. So in essence, if Charlie is meant to die on the island, no matter how many times Desmond tries to stop it, the death will come in another form. Of course, Lost will show us another view at some other points. LOST dabbles in religion, philosophy, mysticism, and other elements. It is at times hard to follow.

Wow! I've just seen this episode and I have to admit that it was really great! ;D I liked the ending! It keeps on looking like "Final Destination", don't you think? At least there isn't the seat order for the death to follow.. hehe Desmond is nice, after all! _HUGS_ P.S. - I want Ben back anyway!! ;D @ esbaker: (I noticed your editing) Interesting explanation! Thank you! Lost is always so full of different subjects.. It's good to have something to base theories on! ;D Hugs!

He chooses death to save the world yet arises a day later changed forever. I don't think she made it sound that trivial in my opinion. I think she hinted at it's importance. She made it sound as if getting to the island was very crucial for Desmond and everyone else. There was a moment where I believe she hinted it was at the uttmost importance. Just because it's sounds mundane doesn't mean it doesn't matter. But this is just my humble opinion....
