Yes, Jacob must be able to see into the hearts of the survivors....that was why Ben went to get Locke--he was one of the good ones....and the children are innocents.... I don't believe Ben when he told Locke he was there for him. Ben had lied about everything else why would he tell the truth about this one point? He was just messing with Locke's head yet again. Locke might have been a good person but now he belongs to the island and the island's priorities might not be Ben and Company's. I think they took the tailie kids and Alex to give them a better life -just as Karl said. The tailie kids had no parents with them. Anna Lucia and the other adults had no claim to them so it made sense for the Others to rescue them. Ditto for Alex. Her mother was crazy and would have killed her as soon as she got a rash. It would have been morally negligent of them not to rescue Alex too. The only kidnapped child was Walt and that was because of his special abilities. Loved how Television Without Pity called Isabel "strangely erotic"! Must have been that little lip biting bit when she talks to Jack. One: The Thailand girl could see into Jack's heart...so Jacob must be able to as well (there is definatly some reason to her gift) two: Walt's ability? What ability? |

Okay, Isabel looks and acts like Kai Winn from Star Trek: DS9! She's not the actress who played her or anything but remember Winn started out as good then became corrupted by evil! She walked with grace and importance and then cooly plots behind your back! I think she is gonna be worse than Juliet!! Heaven Forbid!  |

We now know what Jack's tattoos mean. I guess now I can sleep at night.
I don't like Bai Ling. I don't like her character. I don't like that the creators continue to promise us 'more sex', like all shows do when they themselves understand a decline in quality. I don't like the general direction the show is going in with Nikki and Paulo. And I don't care that Bai Ling is apparently the most sensual woman on the face of the planet, because all I saw were boring flashbacks and Jack being a general prick.
On the plus side, Benry pwns from the operating, Juliet is still sexy and Tom is still friendly.
Can we please call the whole Jack/Juliet thing off? They have no chemistry and it would cheapen Juliet's character. Jack had no chemistry with Kate, Ana-Lucia, Bai Ling or Juliet. The person I would say he has most chemistry with is Sawyer, another annoying character.
Sigh. Can't it just be the Ben and Julie show?

Frankly, I hated the whole flashback only because Jack had no real chemistry with her and also he acted like a you know the whole time and it made me mad! So when inevitably he gets beat up to a bloody pulp, he deserved it! I guess I can compare it to when Ben beat Swayer up. I guess he had it coming. Oh, and I
really didn't want to know anything about his tattoos or their meaning. It was just filler I believe. This is the one show where
they don't really need to throw some gratuitous sex in, I really want good stories and if that means less sex, then go ahead!
By all means, yes to less sex and more revealing mysteries! I could care less about Jack's sex life! I don't know if he will have a romance with Juliet or not but he will need her help with Ben
for a little while. With so much talk here about Patchy, I can't wait for him to show up! Maybe he will be able to shake things up with that Isabel! We need info on these 2 please!

Much as been made of Ben's comments to Jack that "Juliet doesn't love you" and that's "she's one of us" as jealousy, which of course, it may be and may the load the remarks with some subtext, but I honestly think Ben doesn't say anything that doesn't have some basis in the facts of the situation, even if he's playing a deception game.
Juliet herself may not accept that she's one of them, but that doesn't make it less true. You can argue the wisdom/evil of taking her and plopping her plopped down into Otherville against her will, but there is some suggestion in NIP that she's got some qualities in addition to her scientific knowledge that the Others recognize and want.
One other item — just of interest and not really key to overall picture. I noticed that the little girl (forgot her name) is wearing the same kind of dress made of the same kind of material and same kind of print as the dress Kate was given to wear. It was Alex's, I believe. Otherville either is short on dress patterns or has specific notions about feminine wear. Just struck me. Prolly means nothing.
