I liked this episode too, specially the Ben moments, like the one where Richard drags him to see the coffin, like he's a naughty little boy. ;D I think and hope Ben will be the solver of the fight between Jacob and MIB. I hope he finds a way to act wisely. Sawyer was great, but the re-death(?) of Juliet maybe unnecessary...

I voted 7. Liked this epi but it's not going to be one of my favourites. I'm so confused now... I'm not sure if I like the idea of reseting. I hope John would be happy without the island... It was so sad seing him on a wheelchair again... I know he's alive but we all know how unhappy he was in his life before crash. And what about Ben? ehh I'm so confused Can't wait for new epi

I liked it a lot!!! Don't know what to vote though... I think I need to watch it again for that. But I do find it a bit strange that quite a few people here voted "worst episode ever"! LOL Scared Ben isn't so surprising at this point. But scared!Richard I loved when Ben asked Flocke what he wants and he said he wants to go home... the (apparently) eeeeeeeeeeevil look on Flocke's face ;D but the re-death(?) of Juliet maybe unnecessary... Maybe they showed it because what she said is important... The "we should get coffee sometimes" before she said that "it worked"... It must have something to do with her seeing/being in the alternate reality or something, although I've no idea...

If written ideas in so many places I wasn't sure if I said this here or not already. What I enjoyed MOST... Richard's face when that flare goes up is priceless.
The look on Ben's face after Richard throws him to the ground and he sees Locke's body
Locke's face to Ben about wanting to go home is scarier than crap
Ben's look at the end of the epi when Flocke is carrying Richard away is so perfect. It says 50 things at once. The two biggest being HOLY CRAP WE ARE IN TROUBLE and I'VE GOT TO FIND A WAY OUT OF THIS
Hurley taking charge

I'm a might worried that Ben's overall importance in the big picture has been diminished. It really appears, so far, that he knows nothing about the war with Smokey, and that many of the Others knew much more about it than he did. Even Widmore and Eloise, the ex-leaders, probably knew much more than the current leader- and so do the Temple Others that we just met. So why was Ben kept in the dark, and why did they let him overthrow Widmore and stay in charge anyway, since it ultimately led him towards killing Jacob? Have Ben's actions been meaningless in that big picture- and is he nothing more than an interloper and outsider in this larger war?

What lies in the future is the past. I don't think anything was reset. I think course correction is a better description. And it occurs to me that the timeline on the island is 2007 but Oceanic Flight 815 is in 2004. That suggests to me that something has yet to happen (why else would we have a sixth season) that will correct what was done wrong in 1977 that led to Desmond bringing down Oceanic 815 or maybe it goes back to what happen way back when Jacob kicked Smokey out of his house or wherever home is (Egypt?).
And I wonder if we won't see repeats of Flight 815 as more island events "course correct" the timeline, so maybe Shannon will be on the plane, or there will be other differences.
Smocke as the new Fake Locke is being called is the Smoke Monster, which suggests to me that the MIB wasn't the Smoke Monster, but just a proxy Smokey used to harass Jacob.
You can never go home again, Smokey. Smokey in his Locke-ified state presents the real threat or problem to be solved. He wants to go home, but that is obviously bad or why else would Jacob have had him, ahem, locked up in the cabin. Jacob must think Smokey must never be allowed to go home.
The war is the reason the O6 needed to go back. Something about what they are or do, tips the balance.
Other thoughts:- The "they're" in Jacob's "they're coming" death sputter are the O6 who will join the Others, Ben, Richard and anyone else who is going to war against Smocke.
- Jacob is inhabiting Sayid (notice how he studied Sayid when he visited Hurley?).
- I fear Ben might become a sacrifice the island demands.

I'm gonna have to read through this and post my own reactions sometime this weekend, but overall I am very, very pleased with this premiere. Intriguing stuff!!! The apparent reset, not so much - I have been against that from day one, for many reasons, but I am trusting in the writers to make whatever happens work for the story. I'll have to see how it unfolds.
I was sooooooooooooooooo happy to see Jack and Desmond together on the flight. Seriously. I screamed and hurt my boyfriend's feelings. I am aching for those screencaps!!!!!!! aAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
I won a bet, too - I knew Man in Black/not Locke was the Smoke Monster, but my colleague was adament that he wasn't. Looks like that debate has been officially resolved in my favor! ;D

Sawyer was great, but the re-death(?) of Juliet maybe unnecessary... I totally agree. Her loss was so much more powerful in the S5 finale when Sawyer reacted to her falling down the hole. I feel like they should have let her story end there, for maximum impact.

Like Smokey said, the important part of bringing her back may have been her final thoughts that "It worked" and that she likely flashed to the other side. I was also thinking that we didn't have to cry over her death again, after the last one was so painful - but that little twist made it a bit more head scratching. Shades of Charlotte and others flashing through time before their deaths, much?
If the two realities are that deeply connected, then maybe the reset has more of a point than just filling time, or telling us that everyone was worse off without the crash- as if we didn't know. Like tigerlilly, I loathed the idea of a reset all offseason, especially after how things ended in 1977 - so maybe I'm just making a last ditch effort to rationalize it. Hence my theory that the monster is trying to go 'home' to the other reality.

Again, I don't think reset is the right way to think of it. Course correction is what it is. I think what we saw in the premiere was how things were changed on Oceanic 815 in 2004 by what was done in 1954, 1977, 2007 or whenever. I think we'll continue to see updates to Flight 815 and see changes with folks on that flight as events in the big showdown on the island develop. Things weren't all that rosy on this new iteration of 815, but there were some improvements and obviously some differences.
Hopefully, we won't see these things each episode because that would get tiresome, but we'll see enough to begin to make some associations. And I'm predicting by the show's finale, we'll see some decent conclusions in which everyone's life, that their problems they had before they ever even knew about the island will be resolved in a more positive or at least more effective manner.
I hope that makes sense to folks
