There's something on youtube using Lost footage overdubbed with excerpts from Four Blind Mice - it seems really strange to hear Michael using language like that! I love, "I have my own philosophy: Kill them all, let God sort 'em out." I was surprised, too, when I listened to the audiobook; He's not shy about swearing! Oh, and neither is Carrie; I was also surprised when her character said 4 different curse words and swore about 5/6 times within 20 seconds in a scene in "Transamerica." I feel more relaxed and find it funny to hear myself swear, speaking a character's lines.

If it's in the script, they gotta say it, even if they themselves don't use such language. If they have objections they'd better speak up or deal. The language that made me the most uncomfortable was the use of the N word in "All the King's Men." Certainly Robert Penn Warren was using it as it fit into the vernacular of the time, and both RPW and Michael gave it both the crassness and delivered it with the intrinsic ease that it should have had. But still it stops me. I don't know whether I'll ever get over how distasteful that word sounds to me. And perhaps that was the point RPW was trying to make. But it's like watching wartime violence. It needs to be there, but I have a hard time watching it.

Oh, yeah; That shocked me, as well. I actually felt most uncomfortable when Michael was narrating a scene near the end of "Four Blind Mice," with the army guys in the apartments with the Asian girls. Kudos to Michael for reading that. I think it'd be funny to spoof an audiobook and have an actor color the words according to their "personal feelings," a la "Noises Off," and reading scenes like the above with exaggerated distaste. ;D Then, I wouldn't mind reading it.

Thank you so much, friends, for this information! I got All The King's Men used on ebay, for, get this...$1.99!!! Can you believe it?! I'm absolutely loving it!
Michael Emerson is just so amazing! The way he brings life to each of the characters and makes the entire book so compelling, he's just unbelievable! I tell you, this man could read a cereal box and have everyone within ear range hanging on his every word! ;D

Frankly, I have never listened to a audiobook in my entire life I guess, they are not popular in here yet. It must be interesting to listen to a book, I assume, especially from his voice Is it possible to order those from Amazon? Love, Asli

Hi, could you tell me if the level of English in the audio-books are very high? Very "literature level"? In this moment I'm reading an audio-book but is for students (you know, easy, with simple sentences...). I would to buy an audio-book with Michael but I think that is waste my money because I don't understand anything. Some of them are easier than others? I like his voice a lot...

Ooooh my goodness - I'm so glad this thread was revived and brought to my attention. I got an iTunes certificate for Christmas - I think I'm gonna get a Michael audio book!!
Silvia, I am not sure which book would be best for you. Has anybody reviewed Michael's audio books?

Where do you guys find all these audio books? I keep searching Itunes store and it can't find any of them. Is it different in the UK? Not all of them are available through iTunes. It's in the website under professional accomplishments: Audio Books The radio play adaptation of Neil Gaiman's short story, Murder Mysteries, in which he was the narrator. The audio book version of James Patterson's novel, Four Blind Mice, which he conarrated with Peter J. Fernandez. Private Sector, audio book of the novel by Brian Haig, which he conarrated with John Rubinstein. Conarrated volume III of an audio book series called "Legends II: New Short Novels by the Masters of Modern Fantasy," which includes a short story by Neil Gaiman. Narrated audio book CD of Robert Penn Warren's novel All the King's Men in 2005. Narrated audio book CD of The Amalgamation Polka by Stephen Wright, published in February of 2006. (All but Four Blind Mice are available through iTunes. Four Blind Mice is available through Barnes & Noble. Please note that when dealing with iTunes, you must download the software from Apple. The software is free, and the items you purchase are downloaded directly to your hard drive. ) Any suggestions for which one to download?? I'm not so big on murder mysteries, but would certainly make an exception for one that Michael narrates.
